Since it's fictional and not historical, nothing you've said actually counters the accusation of "bad writing". You can say "that's how it was supposed to be", but the point they're making is that the entire scenario is bad writing, because there were always other, better ways to reach the same narrative outcome (ie, the transition from an "Old Republic" to the Empire we see in the original films). Saying "Well, obviously things had to happen that way bcause of X, Y, and Z" is not a justification when Lucas is the one who also wrote X, Y, and Z in the first place. All you're really doing after the fact is mental gymnastics to try and justify the bad writing.
