I dont know how much crossover there is between life simulator fans and Lord of the Rings fans.

All of the diehard LOTR fans I know personally are girls who would be into a game like this so I'm guessing a lot.

I think LOTR has a much larger female fanbase compared to other fandoms. Not saying these games are exclusively played by girls but I'd assume that's the majority too.

Yeah she's basically just a better Lizard and there was a time when Lizard was pretty popular.

Sea of Stars was fine but everything was just middle of the road. It didn't do anything particularly well but there also weren't any bad game design or frustrating elements either.

Hmm I was excited to try this game on Game Pass but random encounters is bad news.

Testing out a Hope/Zoo deck and one location was Dark Dimension. I play Shanna and Blue Marvel into that lane.

Shanna gives me a Zero in the 3rd lane which silences my Blue Marvel and causes me to lose the game.

I was interested until I heard that it still had the same awful loot design as the Nioh games. I don't really want to spend 30 minutes cleaning out my inventory or doing loot management after every encounter.

I'm not against loot in these games but the Nioh system was so bad it turned me off all of these games.

As an action game enjoyer the action combat in FFXVI is awful. It's flashy but there isn't much actual depth and the enemies were completely brain dead from what I remember.

Also I'd take a bad FF7R mini game over literally any of the side quests in FFXVI.

Yeah that's pretty much all you need to know haha, it's not very complicated due to how flexible it is with the movement cards.

The only strategy that might not be obvious is to hold onto your lower cost cards if you have Hope in hand.

So on turn 4 you could play two cards into the Hope lane instead of 1.

Other quirks is that you can play Silk as card 3 into a lane, then Elsa will buff the 4th card in the lane before Silk moves to another lane. Also true if Spider-Man is the last card in the lane, Elsa will buff him.

Also I try to avoid giving Vision an Elsa buff just to keep him under 10 power to play around Shang-Chi.

But yeah if you draw Hope by turn 3 you're probably going to win and if you draw Hope and Elsa by turn 4 then you are probably going to super win.

I mean we all know this is a shitty free to play mobile game with awful monetization but saying they don't compensate for issues like this is a weird hill to die on.

why does kazar exist?

I mean on paper Kazar is fine because he only needs to hit 5 cards to be a 4/9 which is respectable stats.

The problem is that going wide in this game sucks and takes way too much effort compared to just playing big boys.

Kazar should probably be a 4/0 or 4/1 that gives +2 to 1 power cards instead. Then he has better Onslaught synergy and more of his power is added to the lanes that he's actually trying to buff.

I barely see HE decks anymore, it's so weird how different the game we're all playing seems to be sometimes.

I decided to download all assets today because I heard that can help and everything does seem to be running smoother. My menus were even pretty slow before the update but they seem better after downloading assets.

My S21 phone runs it okay but it does go nuclear (hot) after a certain amount of time. Also the battery gets wrecked by Snap

Mostly switched between these two decks. Hood is only in the 2nd deck because of hot location, otherwise it's Kraven

I have accidentally given my opponent a strong card with the new location about 3 times. The text changes black if you have any card there so I keep forgetting that it's still active on my side.

Yeah I assume he adds 12 random cards to your deck on top of the 12 you already selected. Looks like a pretty silly deck.

None of the other Eternals cards are really leaving an impression on me though.

Aaaaand they nerfed Sandman which was the only counter I could think to the Hope decks.

This meta is so awful right now. It feels like 90% of matches are Red Hulk + Hope decks. I'm sick of the mirror matches (because of course I'm playing the same deck to actually be competitive) so I've tried a few Sandman deck counters and I'm still not finding success.

I'm surprised that more people aren't calling for Hope nerfs but it's probably because she's in 100% of games right now.

Red sensing Aerith is too intentional for me to think it's ALL in Cloud's head. Also they learned about the meteor plan at the end of Remake I believe.

Instead of doing that I spent 3 spotlight caches to get Red Hulk so I can abuse him like everyone else until he's nerfed.

Love seeing 27 power Red Hulks in my game.

Here's an 8 cube tip for you guys (because I just lost 8 cubes).

If you play a card into Bar Sinister and Silk is there, she doesn't move until after it makes the copies. So I only had 3 copies of Magneto in the lane instead of 4.

Been doing okay with my Hope deck but I decided to switch to Nimrod to take advantage of Kamar-Taj being featured with Shuri

Then I had my Knull Rogue'd 3 games in a row. Back to Hope it is I guess

Blown away by this game sometimes.

I just lost to a guy who only played Supergiant, Taskmaster, and Red Hulk.

Like I knew it was coming but it was still embarrassing losing to that.

This season has been rough so far. Can't remember the last time I struggled this hard to get out of the 70 ranks.

Junk is a really annoying deck concept that I'm surprised they keep supporting to be honest. It fills the niche of "annoy my enemy to have fun" but I've always hated that design in these games.

I don't get why clogging lanes is so undercosted by the devs when it's such a strong effect.

If you're really struggling with 3D Brawler then you can spam pause to see exactly what input you need to do.

The deck I was trying was basically using him to play Crossbones, Obsidian, Ebony Maw, and Infinaut. It was okay but it was also trying to be a Hope deck to complete the missions too.

Yeah the only problem was the cactuar doors

Okay I can't decide if War Machine is actually good or not yet, but playing him into Hope's lane on Turn 5 and then dropping Infinaut and Ebony Maw on Turn 6 is pretty damn good.

Yeah I wasn't able to decide if the chicken quest was just a bad quest or intentionally bad as a meta joke about bad quests. I'm leaning more toward the later, but the issue with a joke like that is that I still have to play through the bad quest.

That being said the whole quest takes like 5 minutes so it was fine.

I haven't tried yet but I'll probably whip something up for the weekend missions. I have a hard time trying new cards when I'm already infinite for the month and have all of the conquest rewards I want.

Honestly Sephiroth is a tough one because I doubt the voice directors are giving the actor any context for the nonsense he's spouting most of the time.

Rebirth got rid of the anime grunts, by the way. I don't remember a single one.

Remake was 10/10

Then Rebirth came out and was 12/10 so Remake is 8/10 now.

I thought it was a nice touch that his dialogue changes in side quests if you wait to do them after the change.

I mean it makes sense, but they could have kept them the same either way.

It is pretty weak but it also has unlimited range and continues doing minor damage even when you're not mashing square. So it's basically just used to stagger, then you get in and spend ATB.

Yeah something I'm not sure the game tells you is that you can change the element you imbue her weapon with. So you just pick whatever element the enemy is weak to, use triangle to throw it and stick it to them, then start spamming square.

When they get staggered you get in close and use Art of war 2 times and the 2nd time it does an upgraded version.

I was thinking they might do a 4th game to fix Advent Children honestly but the sales probably aren't justifying that so far.

I don't understand how people think these games are supposed to survive without microtransactions and battlepasses.

How else do you get money to keep adding things to the game?

I mean are we still really upset about cosmetic purchases funding live service games in 2024?

That being said this looks fun but 3rd person melee combat is always kinda rough in these multiplayer games so we'll see.

I struggled on hard mode until I looked up builds online and realized the best strategy is to basically avoid 90% of the options they give you (which is stupid).
