Jason Schreirer says there's still a bug preventing one of the characters from being recruited that's supposed to be patched by tomorrow. And that the review embargo is up on the 21st.

The digital codes going out today are not locked, btw. Can play as soon as you download. It was believed they were gonna be gated until the 72 hour period like the Digital Deluxe, but apparently not.

I played Scarlet and didn't even know that Koraidon was named Winged King.

IIRC it was just an extra detail mentioned in either their Pokedex entries or the Scarlet/Violet Book.

I would contend that portmanteaus are still marginally more clever than just picking a couple of words and putting a space between them. Something like Arcanine may not be the absolute peak of creativity, but it's better than Blazing Hound.

Arcanine is fine. It's stuff like Talonflame that's the most "lazy" sounding. Sandslash is just a Y away from being the same as Sandy Shocks.

I'm already in there, but I'm not active outside of SMFFFC. B8 disappearing might make me a little more active in some of the special interest channels, but I don't think I'd ever be a regular in the main chat channel.

It has proper "old school" JRPG dungeons, with random encounters, save points, and they don't give you free heals when you level up or reach the save point. They talked about the importance of resource management during the Q&A. It's definitely not going to make everyone happy.

Back when they first showed some gameplay clips of the player walking and getting into a battle, I saw numerous people say random encounters were a deal breaker for them.

You need a few more tiers so spiders and most other bugs can be well below every other type of creature. Almost no one likes spiders or shit like mosquitos.

The only bugs people like are honeybees, ladybugs, and maybe certain kinds of ants.

Hey, people also like the cool bugs like preying mantises and the larger horned beetles.

Also pandas should be separate from other bears, and unrelated, red pandas should be above Tier 1.

List is completely missing marsupials too. For shame.

Horses and otters should move up a tier. Mice and deer should move down at least one tier.

Just because there's an in-game explanation for it, doesn't mean it was a good decision. They knew better than to market the box legendaries as Winged King and Iron Serpent, so they should've applied that reasoning to the rest of them.

I do think it's interesting that they chose to go with the two word names for the paradox mons. They remind me of the codenames of the Ultra Beasts, but they got 'real' names to go alongside them.

Even Koraidon and Miraidon have both codenames and proper names, so it makes it all the stranger that the rest of the Paradoxes don't.

Also Famitsu gave it a 33/40 (I think it was a combo of 10/8/8/7), which is kinda low for them. Hmm...

In their recent Q&A, when asked about missable characters, they answered:

A: We have not included any missable elements in this title that need a time limit or a major redo. This is something that Murayama was also concerned about when creating Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundered Heroes.

It's worded in a way that suggests maybe there are some missables, but not in a "if you didn't backtrack to this obscure place at this specific time" kind of way. So maybe just story choice-based missables? And that also doesn't necessarily mean there are no convoluted recruitment methods, just that any character like that won't be missable.

I just unlocked Hogan's shop and did a spit take when I saw how many stamps some of the trades required. I'm only 3-4 hours in with 18 stamps and I already think the game is getting a little long for how simple and repetitive it is, and the most expensive trade requires 160 stamps?! How.

This will not be a game I try to be (quasi-)completionist about, lol.

There's free forum software out there (or paid I guess). Someone could make Board 8 into its own forum (and Discord would be the lifeboat to keep everyone about it and help the migration).

The discoverability would be awful and many people here would miss the memo and never know about it, and it would probably not even really catch on with many of the people who do know about it... but it's an option!

I was gonna respond to KP in the now closed topic, but this is the obvious unfortunate side effect of a decision I largely agree with.

However, we have moderators for a reason -- to clean anything up if someone decides to be a jackass. Gay people can get married now and SCOTUS decided years ago they have equal rights, so this is not some debatable point and anyone who thinks otherwise isn't worth the effort to talk to.

That wouldn't mean anything if Fandom wanted to take a safe "neutral" side that doesn't upset the rightwingers (which is of course decidedly not neutral at all). But based on the trans rights post that was also made today, that luckily does not seem to be the case at the moment.

People who don't care about Discord should at least join the B8 one even if it's so they can have somewhere to check in in case the board is just randomly gone one day.

They released a patch this morning that addressed "bugs with scenario progression" so I imagine it's safe to play now.

Predicting that Fandom shuts down the fourms altogether because they want to turn this site into wikia #9824. I'm sure they'll list a lack of activity as a main reason.

Kinda expecting now that the next step will be shutting down all non-game boards.

I like a bunch of the Steel Megas, but it's hard to give them as much credit as regular Pokemon. Honedge line is great, but it's only one real line. On the other hand Raichu, Jolteon, Zapdos, and Electabuzz are all pretty good. I think I probably have to give it to Gen I here.

I kept a full 10 unit squad evenly leveled. It was fun being able to use everyone evenly, and all 10 of the units were competent (I was playing on Tactical).

And then I ran out of room to put new characters and my motivation to continue playing kinda dived off a cliff. <_<

It's fine if they want to limit the number of units, but they could've at least let you save entire formations so you could quickly swap whole teams in and out.

Heads up, backers who got the physical super early are being advised not to start until a pre-release patch is released. Apparently game breaking bugs, and save files from before the patch may still be corrupted. The patch should be in out in time for the 72-hour early access window.

Anecdotally, a lot of people have commented on my FF7 Rebirth press event hoodie in public (neat) but at least a third have told me they are waiting for all three games to be out before they start, ha.

For me it's because I want to know I'll actually have a way of finishing the trilogy before I start. Right now I could play Remake on PS4 or Steam Deck, but I'm not buying a PS5. Even if Rebirth works well enough on Deck (sounds doubtful?), Part 3 certainly won't. So I need to wait for Part 3 to come out and see if there will even be a way for me to play it (Deck 2? Switch 2 trilogy ports?). Only then will I start on Remake.

It should've been Weedle AND Graveler.

There was no saving Swoobat, but Regieleki didn't deserve to go down too. And yeah, Weedle should've died instead of Okidogi.

I should probably load up that prequel game soon.

I like Mamoswine well enough on its own merits, but I honestly don't think it flows that well as a natural Piloswine evo. It just looks like it has a much different design philosophy behind it than the first two forms.

Even without the few good Megas, VI's Dragons win. Tyrunt line is one of the best Dragons in the series, goofy Goomy line is cool, Zygarde is one of my favorite legendaries, Noibat is adorable, and Dragalge is neat. Noivern is my least favorite of the bunch, but it's still decent enough.
