Beat the boss on second run, I like the magic system in this one. Dunno how I feel about max mana reservation abilities, though. I'm sure it'll synergize with something later on (to put it in PoE terms, maybe mana reservation efficiency), but I thought I'd get the reservation back after getting hit a few times or something. Nope just over half of my max mana gone for the rest of the run!

Feels like an improvement over the first game yet different enough gameplaywise to warrant both being worthwhile experiences. Digging's Mel's murder vibes so far

raising the karma limit on CE (which people on CE were largely supportive of), mentions, youtube/twitter/imgur/etc embedding, the shift to https, an actual fucking functioning profanity filter instead of having to asterisk yourself out in specific ways, the optional multi-paged FAQ format (it doesn't work everywhere, but it's way better for some guide writers and types of guides), block feature, flairs and flair filtering, better quoting, signatures changed to being live (I got a sigwipe back in the day because they changed the rules and then deleted years of old posts...), and probably some more stuff are all things that happened under sballen in the past decade or so that are just straight up good things. since he's stepped down a year ago, literally all that has happened is the removal of the politics board and now this shit

the only thing I can remember that got massive backlash and is still poorly received is the revamped moderation system (doesn't affect me, but it's still dumb to not have multiple eyes look over a moderation). sballen admits he could have done more (especially more contests dude) but he did listen to feedback and implement ideas or rollback changes based on it

meanwhile I suspect fandom's trying to ship of theseus us into a primarily younger, more monetizable demographic because they just don't like gamefaqs like users do

Overall, the main feedback weve received is that the decision to lock the Current Events board and generally prohibit explicitly political topics elsewhere is unpopular amongst a large percentage of commenters. I dont want to duck or run from that takeaway - this is something Fandom discussed and anticipated before making these changes. Ultimately, we will be standing by this decision because doing so aligns with how we operate other parts of our platform, and how we want GameFAQs to be positioned in broad gaming discourse.

it'll still be a stain to be used against them for a website to fail within two years of their acquisition, so I think they want to draw it out. make it an inevitable "gamefaqs wasn't going to last forever" thing but a little faster

I also wonder if they're going to challenge guide rights in the near future tbh. SBAllen said it wouldn't happen but he made a super bitter post about this whole situation on CE earlier, so his input on the situation is out the window

they bought it as a package deal with cnet so it's not implausible they literally do not care about gamefaqs at all or they want to actively kill it off because there's no foreseeable revenue source for the site

gamefaqs really hasn't been getting new users for the past decade and everyone already here uses ublock

Since you brought up SC2, as a Coop veteran, Artanis's Tempests. They do relatively high damage per hit, have absolute massive range, are aerial, and you can kite while shooting. They sound like an ultimate unit that if you can get a bunch out you've already won the map. In practice? You have 15 ships firing on one zergling in a group of 30, overkilling the hell of it with a slow rate of fire, as the other 29 run past you and murder your base. The unit is essentially only good at killing buildings, which is only actually the objective in one map. Compare this to mass Battlecruisers or Carriers and while those take as long to really get off the ground macro-wise, they can both handle small and larger units extremely well, don't waste firepower on overkill very much, and are only really countered by hard counters like Vipers, mass Scourge, or whatever the hell Terran does in coop. Basically, enemies in coop use their numbers to offset how dumb the AI is, and Tempests just are usually not functional against mass anything

Instead of these basically vanilla campaign/versus units, on Artanis, you can warp in Zealots with charge and even better spin than usual, Phoenixes that can lift two units, and his Dragoons have extra range and are easy and safe to mass like sniper Marines (I should also note you can effectively immediately warp them in anywhere). Best part is you don't even unlock Tempests until later on in progression so you assume they should be good enough by default. Not really!
