Before the topic is over I would like to thank all of you for your continued support and kindness.

You guys make coming to this site a lot of fun and worthwhile every single day and every single time I come here, so thank you.

Ten years. These topics have been going on for ten years now; since the release of The Dark Knight in 2008.

A lot has changed. I have kidney failure, I lost my right leg, I've had at least 3 major eye surgeries, and lost a pinky toe on my left foot. Not to mention two surgeries on my right and left arms each, and one hell of a surgery on my chest. There is a nice 3 inch scar to remind me of that every day, as it still hurts to this second.

However, there is some good. I'm happily married to a beautiful red head, the ultimate Spider-Man dream. I bought a house, and I even managed to reconnect with my former drug addict father. So there is a balance in all the good and the bad.

At the center has been this topic, which has been going strong because of the support of all of you. I cannot thank you all enough. But I will say it again.

THANK YOU!

Iron Fist season 2 trailer dropped.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kvvWB0GwCekp]

I'm convinced that anything would have been better than the crap fest that was season one. This trailer shows a marked improvement over the first season, and the change of showrunner and fight choreographer seems to have fixed a lot of problems.

Scott Buck should never be allowed to run a television show ever again. He ruined Dexter and he almost killed Iron Fist too.

Zeus, I have complete renal failure. (Kidney disease and kidney failure.) I have to go to hemo dialysis 3 times a week or I die. Hemo dialysis is blood dialysis. I get stuck with two needles in my chest, Pulp Fiction style, 3 times a week. It hurts like a *****, but I get to continue living. The machine filters the toxins out of my blood, and removes the excess liquid from my body. Which is what the kidneys do on their own naturally. Without the dialysis I would swell to the size of a balloon, and eventually suffocate to death because it would be impossible to breathe.

When I was in the hospital for those 6 months straight 5 years ago it was because I had swollen to over 450 pounds because while I was urinating at the time, the toxins stayed in my blood, and I was dying. I almost died, I slipped into a few comas and was non responsive for a few days.

Now I'm a little over 300 pounds, which is still a lot, but compared to where I was 5 years ago, I'm tiny. I really did have to buy new. Clothes once I was a free man again.

So, if I lose the last 50 or so pounds I get on the kidney transplant list, and I do not have to go to dialysis any longer. I sort of get my life back, and my chest won't be permanently sore.

Have we decided on a new topic title yet? Because we are getting closer to the end of this thread.

As for losing weight naturally I have tried, probably not as well as I could have, but it is extremely difficult when you are exhausted from hemo dialysis three times a week. Often times after I come ho e from dialysis on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, I feel like death warmed over. I have to eat some food, and take a nap to just feel horrible. It might take all night to just feel normal and strong again. Strong enough to even get up and do my walking exercises let alone do rigorous work. It's a vicious cycle that I haven't been able to break going on 5 years now. Thus my weight stays about the same, not really losing or gaining weight.

So I need the help, and the surgery is going to help me lose the weight so I can get on the transplant list.

It's quiet right now so I guess I have to tell you fellow geeks this.

I got my referral for my weight loss surgery. My doctor and nutritionist (Yes, I have one of them too.) both gave me the thumbs up to proceed to the next step.

The plan is to get a gastric sleeve, which entails getting 80% of my stomach removed and closed off. Then I have to take vitamin supplements forever, which isn't too bad for the rewards. The surgerey is outpatient, and will involve 7 small incisions on my stomach. Just more scars to add to the rest on my arms, neck, chest, leg, and foot.

Anyway, once my insurance approves the procedure I will be a skinny person. Not sure what it's going to be like to be a skinny person. I've been big my whole life.

You skinny geeks out there let me know how it's like.

Granted Hydrox does sound like something you put on wounds, Hydrogen Peroxide, and sure Oreo has better variety and taste better, but we let Pepsi exist in the market place, and it is vastly inferior to coke. Except Lipton peach tea, that stuff is true nectar of the gods.

But you can't just crush your opponent, you have to let them destroy themselves.

It's the Americam way.

In a thinly veiled comic book adjacent story, Hydrox (Which is Martian Manhubter's favorite cookie) is suing Oreo because the Hydrox people claim that the Orro people are trying to crush them and put them out of business for good.

Hydrox is the older company, by four years, but Oreo has been kicking the crap out of Hydrox for the better part of that feud for those 100 years. (1908 to 1912) If you kick the crap out of your rival for most of the rivalry, Think Mario crushing Sonic, is it even a feud at that point?

Also, I care ahoutvthat damn Axe because the game gave me a reason to care. The plot made me invested; so it means something, not just another gimmick or plot device.

I look at at new game like "Dad of Boy" where Kratos uses an axe instead of his traditional Blades of Chaos to fight enemies. The game narrative explains that he uses the axe because his dead wife gifted it to him before her death.

That's the kind of narrative I'm looking for in a game. I need a reason to go forward, I keep a reason to care. Mario games no longer give me a reason to care, and as I have gotten older a reason to care is just as important as gameplay.

It's the reason why I don't play MMORP'S, at least for an extended period of time, because the gameplay can only sustain my lust for narrative for so long. Plus, I am not fond of forced interaction. My happiness and joy should not depend on another person... I mean I'm already married.

Speaking of my wife, before we met she use to be a hardcore WOW player. She use to tell me about how on work days or rather work nights, she had to do raids at 3 in the morning for her guild. Then she told me how it was a nightmare to get everyone there for the raid, then the mess it was to get them to do their task, and even worse, people endlessly complaining about not rolling snd getting gear.

She was stressed out, and that was years ago. It can't be much better now. No thanks.

Yes, the gameplay in Mario has varied, which ma7 keep a lot of people coming back, but as I get older I want or rather need, a story to go along with my gameplay. When I was a kid it was more than enough to keep me Interested and coming back, but I will be 40 in a few years, and jumping omto turtles snd Goombas does not have rhe same lasting appeal as it did when I was 8.

As for Mario Kart. Yes, the games are somewhat different, but the terrible rubber banding A.I. and the just the overall vibe doesn't appear to me anymore. I have not played a racing game I was in love with since Burnout 3 all those years ago.

I guess this isn't more of a critique of the games themselves, but more of the fact that as I get older, as i have gotten married, and just grown up, Nintendo hasn't grown up with me. That's not a knock on them to an extent, as they should evolve, but more of the fact that I have changed a deal and they have not.

I do not care about Smash. They could add a mode where a hot girl comes to sex you up, and I am still sure I would not care about Dmasj or The Switch.

The weapon breaking in BOTW, the lack of a plot in Mario with a Magic Cap, Mario Kart has been the same since 64, and that leaves Octopath as the only gave I'm remotely interested in, and I cannot justify 400 plia dollars for one game. Maybe Metroid Ptime 4 will temp me, but more stages and characters in smash will not.

My mom told me that if it's too good to be true, it usually is.

Movie Pass is too good to be true, and look what's happened.

If you don't know or care, Movie Pass is or was an unlimited movie theater pass for like 9.99 a month. You got a nice red credit card, with a number and a pin like a credit card, and you just scanned or swiped your card, and bam, you watch a movie.

These geniuses thought no one would see more than one movie a day or a week. They were wrong and the company lost tons of money. Then the cards magically stopped working, or better yet, the movie theaters themselves did not honor the Movie Pass because they would lose money on the percentage of ticket sales. So much backlash.

It's been a cluster muck the whole time. Now Movie Pass is limited to 3 movies a month for the 9.99, and people are ticked off. Not sure how you can be mad when it seemed too good to be true to begin with.

The combat, which is the main part of the game, in Absolver, feels floaty and wrong. Maybe I'm use to faster paced combo combat like Bayonetta, DMC, or God of War, but in this game it is just wrong. The camera and art style doesn't help at all. I get a better martial arts combat feeling from Legend of Legaia, and Legaia 2: Suel Saga.

Remember those games? I enjoyed them a lot, and it stinks we never got a third game in the series.

The evil orange kitty is 16 years old. The vacuum cleaner no longer scares her at all.

Plus she is sneaky. She only poops on things when we are gone, or when we are asleep. It's not a cry for attention or anything, she is just being a jerk face. She's always been a jerk face.

I can't get rid of her either because my wife has had this cat longer than we have been together. She would dumpe before the kitty.

I have even read where Clark blurs his face, moving his face molecules at very fast speeds, or never looks directly at people, so no one ever really knows what he looks like. The face blurring thing is a little weird, but makes sense in a bizarre way. The other thing is that Clark has mentioned that when he is saving people that most people look at the big "S" on his chest, distracting people from looking at his face too.

Overall, he's Superman, and whatever odd power or excuse he comes up with works because we just have to accept it works, and he's Superman.

On a separate note:

My wife says I can't threaten to eat our kitty cats because people may think I'm serious. I'm not....maybe... Anyway, the smaller orange one does not like to use the liter box, and so now I threaten to sell her to the gypsies whenever she is bad, but gypsies don't usually have cats.

I'm asking you geeks. What should I threaten the orange cat with when she's bad?

I read an article, that I now can't find, and don't really want to hunt down, about Microsoft looking at releasing a streaming onky Xbox. Whether it's an Xbox One, or a new version of their next generation console remains to be seen. Either way this is a dumb idea for several reasons.

1. Net Neutrality is going to end. One way or another the jerks at the FCC will find a way to support business over consumers, meaning that the price and range of broadband internet is only going to increase over time. Making internet an almost luxuary item for most people.

2. Broadband internet speeds are still crap in most places, and especially in America. A streaming only box that set relies on an Internet connection limits your market and profitability.

3. The retail market. People still buy and want to buy a great deal of their games physically. I only have a handful of games on digital distribution. That's not to say it doesn't hurt the collectors market, the resell market, and the mommy daddy gift market. All of those would result in a product a lot of people would not purchase.

That's not to say that I don't know that the gaming industry will go all digital one day, but that day is not anytime soon, but Micbseems dead set on forcing ot upon the gaming world.

Next we ha e Shazam. It too wasn't that bad. I overall like the tone, and Chuck seems to be doing okay as the title character. The suit looks weird and beefy in certain areas, like a Popeye sorta feel and look, but it suits the tone I guess. Anyway here is Shazam.

James Gunn was fired from Marvel and the Guardians franchise today. It's a result from some tweets he posted in 2008 and 2009.

We can get Into whether it was right or wrong to make the jokes he did, whether him being openly gay, and opposing Trump publicly caused rhe backlash from a lot of conservatives....

Either way it's done, and we do not bring up those kinds of issues in this topic. The geek topic is a safe haven from the scary outside world.

Saying that, now that Gunn has been fired who should replace him as director, writer, and executive producer on Guardians 3?

My first choice and thought would be Taika Waititi, who did a bang up job on Thor Ragnarok. He is familiar with the Marvel universe and process, and I think he can handle the action and tone the franchise has displayed from the previous movies.

Do you fellow geeks have any suggestions on who could replace Gunn?

Microsoft is talking about unveiling a new xbox console in August at Gamescon.

These morons just unveiled the Xbone X less than a year ago, and they are already wanting to move on again. I'm glad I have my os4 and I'm enjoying the heck out of that console.

The worse part is that they don't even have an original idea. The codename for their next gen console is "Scarlett." That is the codename I gave my wife. They can't even steal a codename properly.

Maybe Microsoft misspoke, and they mean a new Xbox One X schew is being released, and not an entirely new console.

It was a dream a long time ago. I still love old school JRPG's, and I think there is a market for those types of games.

With an interesting battle system, half way decent graphics, and a killer story, you can still make an 80 to 100 hour jrpg on a budget, and sel 2 to 3 million copies and make a strong compnay and a living.

You would have to rely on a lot of word of mouth and a good viral marketing campaign. Along with a great social media blitz and it's possible to be successful.

Stop being so negative Korruptor.

When I was a kid, teenager really, many, many, many, moons ago, my core group of friends and I wanted to create a video game company that would rival Squaresift.

We called it, "Endoplasmic Reticulum"

Our goal was to only make RPG's.

Never much of a computer gamer I left the PC side, and more western based RPGs, to my friends Matt, Richard, and Keith.

Bank Robber, John, and myself would do the turn based RPGs in the Japanese style.

Those were the games that interested us.

We joked around about a turn based game where you would start off at level one, and all the enemies would start off at level 99. The bad guys would crush you in one hit, and you would never gain a level. The game was affectionate called, "You suck."

The game was devised as more of a torture turn based jrpg. You could advance to level two or beyond, but you had to master the games dodge mechanic, or if "you sucked" then you could die a million times, and gain a level out of pity.

Of course we were just kids joking around, but I never forgot those conversations about the games we loved and wanted to make for our company.

I mention this because I think about a game like Octopath Traveler, and I'm happy the games I love as a kid are still getting made. A part of me wants to go back to those days. Because my life didn't work out the way I wanted.

Worst of all was my friend Matt. He joined the military and became a travel medic. He apparently saw some horrible stuff in Afghanistan. He came back home a changed man, and turned to heroin a while back. I haven't heard from Matt in over ten years. His mom contacted me through Facebook 3 years ago looking for him, as she could no longer find him.

I hope he's okay and still alive, but a part of me knows the truth, deep down Indide.

So, I just think back to being a stupid kid making torture jrpgs on pen and paper, before life changed us all.

I would like to think that on some parallel universe we did form "ER" and we made that game, and all of us are alive, happy, and together.

I finally watched Justice League.

It is better than Batman vs Superman, but we've established that a homeless man taking a liquid dump is better than that film.

The movie suffered from what I figured the problem would be. In that it would feel rushed. Because not every character has an individual movie to flesh out the characters.

That's what made Infinity War so much more impressive as that movie had dozens more characters but still felt fully fleshed out. DC and Warner brothers don't understand this.

Still, not a train wreck, but not something I have to ever revisit either.

Oh River Phoenix's atill living brother, Johnny Cash, has signed a deal to play The Joker in a stand alone Joker movie.

This will be bad for several reasons.

1. DC is making this film, so it will be bad.
2. Trying to explain The Joker's origins never ends well. He is better off being an agent of chaos. (The Killing Joke might be the one exception.)
3. Warner Brothers is going to probably do a crappy version of The previously mentioned Kiing Joke, and so it will be a mess.
4. They are more than Likely going to make this a PG-13 movie. Running everything.

I'm not ready worried about Gladiator's sidekick doing a bad job, because he is a great actor, but for the reasons above I'm worried. Are any of you?

First you get needles shoved into you three times a week, four hours at a time. Non shocking news of the day, needles hurt.

Then the worst part is the fluid restriction. I can only drink 32 fluid ounces in a 24 hour period. If you haven't ever measured it, that is not a whole lot of water or liquid of any kind

So, I just kind of ignore it and drink as much as I like until I'm not thirsty any longer. It's not healthy, but until I get short of breath, and can't breathe, I really don't see this as an issue. Doctors and nurses be damned.

Anyway, this weekend I was actually really good on my fluid Intake. I no longer urinate so any fluid I take in stays with me until I get it taken out. I felt good this morning going to dialysis. Then about an hour into treatment I kind of go deaf.

It turns out that my body was use to working on a lot more fluid. So when they went to take it all off this morning there was nothing left to keep the rest of my body working, and my body just stopped working, mostly my hearing.

So, I'm presently deaf unti my body adjust again. My hearing is slowly coming back, but it will be Thuradsy morning before I'm normal again. Just in time for more dialysis.

Therefore, I can't play Dad or Boy again because I can't hear the game.

The wife and I binged the final 9 episodes of Arrow Season 6. I'm really starting ro think that these CW DC shows are better digested in big bites like I did with Arrow rhis morning than in smaller week to week helpings.

I kind of did the same thing with The Flash a few weeks ago, and the show plays out better without having to wait and think about what went wrong with the previous episode, especially if it starts seconds later after that one just ended.

Also, my throat feels better, but it's not 100% it hurt like hell last night before bed, but only hurt a bit before the Arrow binge this morning. It was a nice relaxing Moday with cool a.c. and leftover fried chicken from our nig Sunday dinner. (I make bomb fried chicken because I learned from my old black mama. Thanks mama.)

The saga is over.

The a.c. is working fine again. It's blowing nice bouts of recycled air, and the wife and I are snuggled under our blankets again.

My throat is getting better, and my nose is fine. I guess I'm on the mend, and hopefully by the middle of the week that everything will be back to my normal self.

The wife and I are saving up money to go to Vegas next year. It will be an ironic vacation because we live in a casino town. Hell, she works at a casino. Which means we will get discounts on our stay. 300 dollar a week for 1200 square foot suite. She's got the hook up. We just need money for flights, food, and a rental car for my trips to and from the blood filtering.

I bring up the saving of the money because I haven't been to the movies since Infinity War. Now Ant Man and the Wasp is out, and I'm going to be behind on my Marvel movies. I didn't get to see the dinosaurs either. But it will be worth it next April to finally go on a honeymoon.

We didn't go when we got married because about a week after my wedding I got my right leg cut off, then it was straight to rehab, then she got a new job, and life, so no honeymoon ever happened. Now it will great, if it works out.

It's an entire new show. The 4th wall stuff, and Saved by the Bell timeouts, ruined Ultimate Spider-Man for me. Even if the animation quality is the best of any Spider-Man show ever.

In more Spider-Man news, Steve Ditko passed away this week. He was 90. Rather he passed away on June 29th, and we are just finding out about it yesterday.

Fun Facts: Ditko created Martian Manhunter and Doctor Strange too. He was also a recluse too, which is why we just found out he passed more than a week after his death. He learned what we are all starting to understand, people stink, why bother with a great deal of them?

Also, I liked the Doctor Strange movie. The visuals were trippy, but I recently rewatched it on Nrtfkix, and it was as solid as I remembered. Good stuff, even with my man crush on Cumberbatch.

Geek news as promised.

Ole Nic Cage, of Raising Arizona fame, (His best movie) is going to voice Spider-Man Noir in the upcoming "Into the Spider-Verse" movie.

That's actually a good choice. Sadly I wish they would find a way to incorporate Christopher Daniel Barns (90's Spider-Man) into he film somehow. They still could, but he was Spider-Man Noir in the Shattered Dimensions video game, so I was hoping for the symertey.

Keeping with the Spider-Man stuff. I've actually been enjoying Marvel's Spider-Man. They started season 2 a few weeks ago, it's airing on Disney XD, and they have a lot of the character stuff right. My only complaint, and the wife pointed it out, is that they instructed Robbie Draymond, to not even alter his Spider-Man voice and his Peter Parker voice.

What made Batman: The animated Series so great, among so many other wonderful things, was that Bruce Wayne and Batman sounded different. (Well, that and BTAS was so well written.) Considering that Peter interacts with the same people in and out of costume it would make sense to have them sound slightly different.

Voice shenanigans aside it's a fun show. I suggest you all give jta peak. It's not as good as Spectacular Spider-Man, but it's still solid.

Fun fact that I didn't notice is that Robbie Draymond does the voice of Spider-Man and Goro Akeci in Persona 5. Persona 5 the animaged series just hit Hulu too. I have Bank Robber's Hulu account so it's free for me. I have to check it out and report back when I watch a few episodes.

More fun fact, Persona 5 is the best game of last year. If you have a Ps3 or Ps4 go buy it now. It's great.

It might be because I'm sick, but the a.c. felt better before he "Fixed" The unit and replaced the coil. I'm probably just burning up, and the wife is at work so I can't really get a comparison. Either way the a.c. is running and blowing cool air so I'm not going to complain too much.

As for my throat, I took some antibiotics and some old pain medicine I had lying around and it's helping a little. I'm getting the clarity I have when I'm not in agonizing pain. So I guess I will just deal and hope it goes away by Monday. If not I'm going to the doctor.

I can't focus on something like Dad of boy like this, but I have an urge to play some video games. I'm going through withdrawals. Mainly withdrawals from JRPG's.

What I need to do is find a mindless jrpg to pop in when I'm feeling under the weather, and just grind. I don't mind the grind in an old game like Grandia or Breath of Fire. I know the plot, but I love the games, so it's fun. Put on a podcast on in the back ground, and have fun.

That's probably not going to happen because the wife goes to a day schedule in like 9 days. So she'll be at home with me in the evenings and nights now. No more late night gaming.

Next post will be more geek related because there is some news. But I'm in pain, I do not want to go to life saving blood filtering in the morning, and my throat feels like it's trying to swallow rocks every 5 seconds, and I think the a.c. is worse.

Now I either have Strep throat or tonsillitis.

This world just keeps on giving. It hurts to swallow, I have a bit of a cough, and my lymph notes are swallows on my left side in my throat. I assume it's strep throat because one of the ladies at the dialysis clinic said something about it last week. It hit me right in the middle of treatment yesterday morning, and I've been slightly miserable ever since.

I can't catch a break. Except the a.c. thing.

So as I post this I'm in my kitchen, feeling like crap, and the repair man is out here again to replace the coil in the a.c. unit. The funny thing is that he didn't have a clue that the unit was actually working prior to his arrival. The part needs to be replaced anyway so I'm not saying crap.

Knowing my luck him replacing the coil is going to make the damn unit stop working all together, and I will be screwed again.

I will keep you informed.

I was going to play Dad of boy this weekend, but if I keep going like this the only game I'm playing is take the antibiotics and rest.

We can celebrate the miracle of the a.c. every 4th. It shall be a Geek tradition, if any of us remember.

Now back to regular Geek stuff.

Barman # 50 drops today. I guess I should post a spoiler warning, but USA Today runs everything anyway.

Go figure, Bruce and Selina didn't get married. DC is really opposed to their characters getting hitched. Looking at you Batwoman."

Theres some nonsense about his rouges gallery coming together to make sure he's broken emotionally, but that's dumb. Because a happy Batman isn't a dangerous Batman.

That's the true way to victory, let him get soft from being happy. If he's got a wife and a possible new kid to go home to, he's going to be too preoccupied with her and possibly a second kid to do his night job. That balance would create a better long term arc versus what they did.

Do any of you disagree?

Side note: My new kitten Beerus is scared of all the fireworks. I don't live in the city limits, because people suck, and so it's legal to fire fireworks in the streets and yards. So last night Beerus was in the window, after The Mormons stopped by....

Yes, two Mormon girls. One black and one white, strolled up to the door, I thought it was the repair man. I rolled over in my wheelchair and opened the door. My other cat, Batman, likes to run outside, because he's a jerk face, so I'm watching out for him while keeping an eye on Beerus too. I look at the girls and go...

"You can peddle your Jesus elsewhere. Unless he can instantly regrow my right leg I'm not interested." (It's my default response to God peddlers, as it's the south and the country, so it happens at least twice a month.)

They look at each other and walk away in silence. Batman did not escape.

A few seconds later fireworks go off and Beerus is clawing into my shoulder. Once I detach his little butt another set of fireworks goes off and he runs and hides in a box. This continues most of the evening as people are confused about the date. It's the 3rd, not the fourth, but I was a kid once so it's cool.

Repair men, Mormons, miracle air conditioning repairs, and claw shoulder scars. It all means something but I'll be damned if I know what it is.

The a.c. somehow started working between last night when I went to bed and this morning when the wife returned from work.

She came into the bedroom and found me under the covers with the kitty cats, and woke me up screaming,

"You know rhe thermostat is at 69?"

I went....

"Oh, that's why I'm under the cover not sweating. I'll be damned. It's a 4th ot July miracle."

I'm not sure why the a.c. is working again. Maybe it just needed 8 hours of being on again to cool down the house. (That's a record if you ask me.) But either way I turned down all the fans, and now I'm freezing my southern butt off once again. Happy Days!

The repair man is supposed to come tomorrow 5o check it again, and I guess it needs more work, but in the meantime I'm going to eat some bbq pork chops and enjoy the 4th.

Happy 4th everyone. I will continue to update you all with news once there is some.

The saga continues.

I went to dialysis today where the a.c. actually worked. Even with the needles in my chest I managed to sleep like a baby. I woke up and texted the damn landlord to make sure to send the repair man out to look at the unit. She says he would be there later today. I come home and put the wife to sleep as she has to work tonight. So, I sit In the living room under the fan waiting for the repair man. I fall asleep again because staying awake is horrible because of the heat. I wake back up around 3:30 and no repair man.

I text her again and tell her that I am way too sick to sit In this heat. Which is the truth. She says he will be there by 5.

He finally shows up. He works on the unit and tells me it needs a new coil, but I can run it to get some cool air. He said he will ne back on Thursday if it's not working. 3 hours later the thermostat still reads 81. Its blowing cool air, but not enough to cool the house.

I am tempted to call a 24 hour repair service and have her pay for it out of the rent for next month. I'm notsure that's going to go well at all, but I'm running out of patience.

What do you follow geeks think I should do?
