I have a very specific memory of going with my Aunt to Dirty Dancing in 1987.

We went to this theatre in our local area that was built for stage plays in the early 1900s. It was very grand and had a cool balcony and I always loved that theatre. It was a single theatre so they only showed one movie at a time.

So yeah she really wanted to go to this movie and took me. I was 11. I remember that trip vividly and loved the movie. Still enjoy it to this day. Classic 80s cinema with two young rising stars at the time. It was a pretty big movie that summer.

I think that's what's so interesting for me about relocating somewhere with real winter. We've definitely had bad winters but most of that is because we don't have the infrastructure for it. A week or two of cold weather with maybe some snow (or ice, more likely) and everything goes to hell. We may get that two or three times a winter, broken up by boring cold weather or decent days.

I don't even have a proper winter jacket because a hoodie with a long sleeved shirt underneath will work just fine most of the time, even with my distaste for the cold. If it's colder than that, I just don't go out because there's nothing to do anyway. I want to go somewhere that requires the art of layering. I want to go somewhere that doesn't freak out because there is a possibility of snow. I know blizzards and all that can be brutal and I'm not trying to romanticize it but it is part of the appeal. I want that experience, you know?

Vermont looks incredible. I might spend a couple of weeks in New England because it seems difficult to pick one place to go.

I've been looking through temperatures for the last few summers in various places in New England and I haven't seen anything close to what we get down here, not in severity or duration. I've actually gotten pretty heat tolerant in recent years and I have little issue spending time outside up to 100F, even when it's humid, so those summer highs in the 90s still look great to me. I had mosquitos in my house in January, so bugs aren't much of a deterrent either <_<

The cooler months there are infinitely less appealing but that tradeoff is still an interesting prospect that I want to experience for myself. I know I could be absolutely wrong and hate it but I hate it here too so

Yes it was the summer right before I started High School. I lived and breathed music and this was a pretty big story.
