Are probably the three I'd most like to see again. I think the way you handled Bill's "death" and subsequent arena event was probably the most clever thing I've seen in any of the Hunger Games.

Jaws was just consistently funny.

I didn't originally care for Fred Durst, but I was actively rooting for him towards the end of the last topic. Would like to see him get a second chance.

EDIT

Magic School Bus and Ecco the Dolphin (Elements) - Probably the two that were the most fun to write in that game. They were both surprise threats, with Ecco dragging people to watery deaths (often with sais, for some reason) while the Magic School Bus would flatten people at any moment.

...man, now I need Ecco & Jaws to be in the same Game.

Ahhh well, even I expected that. Will always be my favorite OST though.

If it makes you feel any better, I really did enjoy Walk on Vanity Ruins! I don't play, watch, or listen to scary things so I've made a point of actively avoiding the survival horror genre (or...the horror genre itself, for that matter) ; but that song was unique and so unlike anything I'd ever listened to that it really stuck with me in a way that I don't think the other songs I ranked could really compete with.

So, I'd say that one song alone easily justified participating in this. Not that anyone else shared my opinion on it, and not that other songs weren't good too, but ya know, your nominations did make at least one person happy.

I had low expectations for "Walk on Vanity Ruins" and almost dismissed it entirely once it started off with the same horrific intensity one would expect from a Silent Hill game. Then it...got strangely upbeat, kinda, in spite of the spooky piano? Then someone randomly started quoting Shakespeare in the background? What the hell did I just listen to and why do I love it?

I don't think this upbeat jazz music actually fits Sakura, but I absolutely adore this song and only nominated SFEX+@ for this one song. I kinda feel bad about having to rank it, but that's just how things worked out... then I wound up preferring a Silent Hill song of all things and nothing makes sense anymore.

Is it just me or does Cadbury sound like the opening theme of a late night talkshow? I almost expect an announcer to introduce Mr. Gimmick and the very special guests he's welcoming tonight.

Last is Doon! gives me a headache. The incredibly fast-paced music, combined with the choir and that deep voice in the background, it's just very unpleasant for me to listen to. On the plus side, I'll at least remember the song and I'll always take a song I strongly dislike over one that I actively don't care about.

I really don't care about Sanctuary. It just feels like a generic JRPG track that I've heard a million times before. I just really don't get the love for this soundtrack and, seriously, I am sorry that I somehow wound up ranking so many of them.



And that makes my fifth Block. I don't have time to rank anything else tonight and don't want to get greedy and try to steal the last block from the fifth rotation, so dowolf can take it if he wants (assuming Scept stands by not taking 514). I will be free tomorrow if for some reason they'd both rather I take it.

Dustforce continues to have the best soundtrack in the contest. These songs are so great that they're kinda making me want to play the game just for the music.

I really enjoyed "The Wind is Calling", though I honestly don't know why. It's not objectively the best song of the contest, but it's thus far the only non-Dustforce song I'd want on my mp3 player.

Traveling With Wagon is the best Dragon Quest VIII song in the contest, but I'd still place the other two songs in this Block on a whole tier above it. I'm sorry.

THE BLACK VENUS feels like standard JRPG FINAL BOSS music. It's nice for what it is, but I doubt I'll go back and listen to it very often.

Meh.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Light Pollution is not half as good as Cider Time, but still pretty good. It's one of the better soft, relaxing video game songs I've heard.

Amusementive Crime is another weird song. It's this almost discordant mash-up of like a techno fight theme, a broken amusement park attraction, and faint background vocals I can never make out. I don't dislike the song, it's just...weird.

"Daemon's Court" sounds like a court jester's theme to me. Like, I can easily envision some fool dancing about for the amusement of generic townsfolk while listening to it.

Flower Crown of Poppy is stressful and intense. It probably works for the Silent Hill series, but it's not something I'd choose to listen to.

cheap treasure may have an odd title, what with its lack of capital letters and the song not sounding cheap or treasure-y, but it's easily one of the best and most unique songs in the contest.

Rivellon is pretty. I'm not as wild about it as the YouTube commentors that seem to consider it a spiritual experience that resonates within their soul, but, it is pretty.

Rising Dragoon is...weird. I nominated it and I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it. Is that a keytar?

Illusionary Blue Flowers is nice enough, but not one of my favorites.

I'm starting to think I just don't like the DQ8 soundtrack and have nothing to say about this song.

Cider Time is definitely my favorite song in this block and I suspect that, if I ever listened to every song in this contest, it would probably wind up as my #1 out of all songs. ...Though as I've only heard my nominations and these five, I might be jumping the gun a bit.

Flight initially bored me; I'm not typically a fan of...whatever this genre of music is actually called (I wanted to call it orchestral, but there's an Orchestral Album for Xenogears, so clearly that's not right and I don't have the time to try to research it right now), but it did start to grown on me towards the end and I'll admit that it's a good song. Just not one that's really for me, personally.

I enjoyed Paradigm, but I have a soft spot for 8-bit music. It's probably helped that it's 8-bit-y-ness causes it to drastically stand out from the other available songs.

Blood on the Dancefloor isn't exactly bad, but... ehhhhh....

Over the Sorrow is nice enough, but so forgettable that it left no impression on me at all. I'd easily take a bad song over one so bland... not that there were any bad songs, but still; it's as far below all the other songs as Cider Time is above them.

Also, full disclosure: I have never edited a sprite sheet or added anything into a Google Doc (or whatever the correct term for that particular online sprite sheet is) before. I imagine it's simple enough that I shouldn't be able to mess anything up, but if anyone has any advice about doing so, that would be appreciated.

Also, I'll take my next Block whenever; I'll get to it later this afternoon.

No link was posted, so I'm not going to take the liberty of finding one. I also don't think that was ever released on an album (though at the time you hadn't announced that songs had to be from an album), so... eh, you two work it out.

A few other people posted without nominating anything, but to the best of my knowledge, the only person that said they planned on nominating was LOLIAmAnAlt who already showed up here anyway.
