I didnt like it. Only watched the first episode

kinda this although I might re-watch it again.

i felt like a lot of the aesthetic elements were too deferential to other material.

the acting seemed kinda wooden and jumped around a lot.

the story/premise seemed a bit convoluted and took itself very seriously.

I think @ASithLord7 identified some decent reddit posts on a lot of the no-POC outrage being very American-focused and likely ignorant of the make-up of the area at the time.

*That being said*, the main dev dude in particular seems like an extremely suspect fellow and things like his outright denials of POC (which fwiw isn't just 'black people' which is where some confusion also arises) existing in medieval Europe make for some very bad and very questionable optics.

Wrong, what happened is once they got a bigger budget they went fanboy and started basically making their own shortened dbz dub with a joke here and there. They stopped creating spoof versions of characters and events and started basically redubbing while following the story note for note

The current version of abridged would've never made Nappa such a lovable idiot for instance, he would've just been Nappa from DBZ with a few amusing one liners

It amazes people like this so much. I only had a patchy exposure to dbz as a a kid so I once googled what 'actually' happened in the series after watching episode and was amazed to see it was the EXACT same. Like as I said earlier they've literally copied the same comedic notes for a lot of parts too. It literally became a fandub straight up.

Other Abridged shows just seem to be random references that apply to whatever happens on screen. They don't strive to be cohesive, thus they are often low-effort memery.

Obviously it's a fine line between the two (and honestly like the other guy said, most abridged are/were kinda trash) but I just felt over time that DBZA felt sort of...redundant? If they're going to go for even the same comedic beats as the original dbz did, whats the USP of DBZA even meant to be?

I don't watch any of these abridged shows anymore but I always kinda felt DBZA was way too deferential to the content it was derived from. They pretty much religiously stuck to the structure and writing of the original series albeit with more zany references and in jokes peppered throughout. Iirc there was even running jokes cribbed from the original series too. Just made it seem a bit redundant imho.

Only in theory. I don't think I've ever saved before an rpg boss and felt the challenge/tension was ruined. A boss should be challenging on its own merits not because you have to spend 15 minutes to get back to it or suffer unskippable cutscenes etc.

Has it ever happened where the media lampooned the "alleged" perp only for it to turn out they got the complete wrong guy? Was that person able to seek reparations for libel or something?

I vaguely recall some guy in the UK (I think?) being 'identified' for something last year and it turns out the name/pictures circulated were of a guy who was in prison at the time.

I'd be surprised if a settlement wasn't reached double quick.
