Just for the record if you toss the DS Lite's 50 million+ sales and the DS/DSxl/whatever Sony didn't even double nintendo so uh, yeah, unless "a bit more" is your interp of "dominating" it doesn't even really fit there either.

Trying to argue that the Sega Master System was anything resembling relevant back then is more laughable than anything in this topic, really. Like I have a hard time believing them quite frankly-- but even assuming they're right Nintendo vs the world back then is a lot more impressive than Sony vs the world in the early-mid 2000s.

Calling it at 3 is again, biased in favor of the PS2 gen because the number drops off a lot more after the 3 with Nintendo than it does with the 3 in the PS2 era.

Calling it as consoles only is also biased towards PS2 because handhelds weren't too big with the NES (and the one that was? More Nintendo stat padding)

Except that's a biased combination because there's no Dreamcast or handhelds in the PS2 figure either, which are absolutely relevant and will actually put Nintendo a lot closer to the PS2's numbers.

And I'm not saying what the company cares about I'm saying what I care about as an observer. Someone dominating is more than "I got more sales than the other companies" to me. If it's not to you, that's fine, but I would suggest a less strong adjective for what you're describing.

XBL > PSN anyway. I'll pay $60 a year (less if I find deals) if it means that the online is actually in top form when I want it. I mean PSN is a reasonable service considering you pay nothing but I don't consider XBL a waste of money and I'm glad I have an alternative when I want a higher quality online play than PSN.

Google and Apple are the dumb answers here imhhho. Like Yo said Microsoft has been doing this 10 years and still hasn't taken any sort of lead and I Google and Apple haven't really got their feet wet in a serious shot at the race yet, so I'm thinking at best you're going to expect one of them to be "competitive" in 10 years.

Microsoft or None of the Above are the answers that make the most sense to me. Mostly cause Microsoft seems to be the only major console competitor trending upward right now, so if you're betting on anyone it'd make the most sense to go with them. But on the other hand no company has dominated since the NES days really so that's probably the smart choice. I went for Microsoft just because it's more fun to have a horse.

Well I noticed that you can proc paralysis using Magic Weapon - Electrify

No you can't. I don't know if this is a recent change but you definitely can't do that anymore I just tested that for a long time in NM using magic missile and a 7 dps weapon.

I know this may sound strange, but even with some of the big setpieces in the game up to this point, the game still lacked that big, “Holy crap that really just happened” moment…until this.

Not at all. Game kinda numbed me to that stuff because there's so much of it going on. Though yeah, that scene was fairly cool. I probably couldn't name more than two or three scenes that really jumped at me in the game though. I guess, to answer your question... on favorite UC2 moment... when you're escaping Tenzin's village while it's getting attacked by tanks. Just a really fun action scene beginning to end and backed by the gameplay which is what I felt was the selling point of UC2 over its presentation.

Well with fists it's all technique and so Tifa's a mixed bag. She's got stuff that has finesse and such like somersault, and then she's got stuff where she just manhandles people like meteodive. In some ways fighting like an ogre while clearly having the grace to do otherwise is hot though. I'd put her above the likes of Sakura or Rainbow Mika who show no grace to speak of but below the likes of Chun Li and Cammy who do more flippy stuff and cuts the clumsy/brutish stuff out of their repertoire. Though they aren't super graceful or anything either despite flips and flips and flips so they're pretty mid tier on the weapon fashion scale-- if you want the queen of sexy unarmed fighting you go with Juri. *ducks*

Well, sure. I probably wouldn't be repulsed by a woman fighting with much of anything aside from a board with a nail. Maybe a giant club. But there are definitely tiers. Whips and war fans are up top. More "brutish" weapons like clubs and axes down. Of course, a lot of this is in technique, too-- some chick taking a thug approach and crudely stabbing with a knife is a lot less hot than someone who can do tricks and toss knives and stuff. Now to be fair to Mileena Sais aren't shabby themselves. Everyone loves Elektra after all.

Thank goodness someone else here realizes that your choice of weapon contributes to your image which contributes to how attractive you are.

I was beginning to think I was surrounded by plebeians ignorant of the finer points of combat fashion.

No. I know you were saying blah blah Lightning Hydra blah blah stun but assumed you figured it out by the time I did (the bug was not only pretty clearly evident on normal use but also fairly well documented) so I didn't tell you.

I tried it with elites trapped by a bridge. Sat there for like 3 minutes waiting for a proc. Didn't happen. You can definitely notice it now though. Procs pretty often because each of the three hydra head shots can trigger it.

Maybe they hotfixed the "life on kill" hydra bug and this benefit was runoff I dunno.

On that note I can also confirm that lightning armor return damage can't trigger it (lame-- would actually POSSIBLY give this skill a use vs energy armor), nor can magic weapon's lightning weapon or the lightning armor rune that gives lightning damage to nearby guys on crits.

But hey lightning hydra alone makes paralysis like 3x as good.

The lightning hydra works with the wizard stun passive now. Not sure why, but I'll take it.

Yay for something that isn't venom hydra being worth consideration now. I've been wanting to use the guy for quite some time cause he looks so much cooler.

I think TNA's angle was outrageous in the sense that it kinda shattered all of the plot leading up to it. Timjab managed to makeshift an explanation that mostly makes sense, but even that has some holes so... we're talking really contrived for this to work.

Now this only really matters if you pay more attention to their storylines than you should, however. (Hey topic)

By standard definition it was definitely more lame than anything though I'll give you that. I actually didn't think it was too absurd until I started to think about it-- my initial reaction was "who the hell is this and why should I care at all" which is actually worse than "WTF."

I guess what I'm saying is it's the worst of both worlds.

Yeah less total points to be had with a Block A/Block B setup would be good.

Like the clip packages help but they do make it harder to follow along.

Though my biggest problem with it at this point is that the structure of how matches are given doesn't have more detail. On TV, at least, maybe the website explains it this year. Hell I think last year some guys had way more points just because they were in way more matches which isn't fair in the least.

What is your favorite “Character overcomes his inner demons” moment in a game?

Uhhh... dunno. I like when characters improve themselves and overcome their flaws as a general rule but I can't think of any specific moments that really resonated with me enough to mention. It's usually something that improves a character but doesn't necessarily make for a good moment in and of itself, I guess? I guess... if I had to name one... FF4 Spoilers lol Cecil fighting his reflection to become a paladin was cool. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm of the camp that Cecil didn't really overcome any demons in that game and that all of his character development happened pre-game but that's what the story tries to feed you there as what he's doing and the scene is cool as a scene.. Feel like I should be able to do better than that but eh.

Bonus Question: Who is your favorite Mortal Kombat character?

Johnny Cage. If we limit to ninja, Scorpion. No reason we'd do that, but I just wanted to rep Scorpion > Sub-Zero. (Actually Sub-Zero might be my least favorite ninja this side of Khameleon to be honest <_< )

Probably Great Cave Offensive. Only collectathon type thing I've ever enjoyed-- mostly cause getting the chests wasn't so much about finding them as much as figuring out how to get them.

Arena is kinda fun too as it's one of the only Kirby games that exists that's possible to make anything resembling difficult (if you put the right limitations on yourself, anyway)

Wasn't as big on Milky Way Wishes because I felt that picking your skill at whim kinda took away a lot of the charm of Kirby's powers in that you gotta find the right enemy/suck them up/hold onto it to use a cool ability.

I actually think that's far more than most titles are at this point. If I'm a wrestler if I'm not owning a world title I want the X Division title at this point. The US and IC Titles are a joke right now, so is the WWE Tag. You could maybe make a case that it's the least prestigious TNA title at this point but yeah.
