Doesn't Boothill have a weakness-ignoring ability like Acheron? He might not be DOA if they juice his numbers and debut the Hunt mode at the same time. Unlike Argenti and Erudition which they only tried to sell after his banner was already over.

Oof, that ZZZ release date is less than a week after Dawntrail is due out. My interest in it was somewhat waning over time anyway (perhaps not getting into multiple play tests will do that), but now it has XIV to contend with as well.

Aventurine MoC 10 feels impossible to 3-star with my roster. The dice rolling phase is just brutal. Guess I'm settling for 33 stars.

Fortunately I enjoy characters who are assholes and suck so the IPC/followup team fulfills both needs

Aventurine definitely feels like the juice the followup team was missing. So satisfying to watch the squad pop off. I think my next pulling goal is to get Topaz's S1 or E1? For consistency or to let me run Tingyun or Clara with Ratio. What I'd really love is a Harmony that buffs or has FUAs to live the dream.

Light cone is Gepard's 5*. Ratings aren't up yet but I'm very happy with this.

Oh yeah I've been there. It sucks. I'm glad part of Aventurine's power creep is that he has higher base speed.

My Gepard's relics are basically complete trash except for the speed because of how slow he is, so I've been farming new stuf for Aventurine anyways. I'll see what I can slap together tomorrow.

What about discussing the politics of a given video game? Do we just have to shut down all discussion of, say, Metal Gear Solid or Disco Elysium?

This is actually the only thing they learned from Game of Thrones, they forgot to write characters beyond those two things for 90% of the cast and basically didn't try to write politics

I mean the ending is better than anything in Solo. If the whole movie was like that, it wouldn't be a contest.

Instead we got Andor which is that but better.

Solo is fun despite some extremely stupid shit, so that's what my gut says. RO isn't nearly as stupid but it's so boring until the final act. I'm no war movie expert but I've watched and enjoyed a few, and it just wasn't a good one for most of the runtime. But I haven't seen it since watching Andor, I plan on rewatching it around when S2 drops so I'll see if that's still true.

I guess I should clarify that of course I have no way of really knowing this. I do suspect they do this but it's probably irresponsible to try and assert that with any strength without some kind of statistical survey, which is really the only way to know for sure. (Or I guess getting access to the code but I don't think that is going to happen)

If this was true we'd almost certainly know about it by now because gacha games attract the most dedicated spreadsheet warriors that love to collect tons of data. All it takes to verify is collecting statistics from thousands of relic runs.

Genshins stat and substat distribution is out there and I'm sure HSR's is too.

Honestly I much prefer Ratio spreading damage across 2+ big hits because it makes him a champ at breaking, which is busted if you add Ruan Mei. And Tingyun giving him more ults also goes kinda nuts.

Also because when Seele's ult doesn't crit I want to throw my phone across the room

Looking at my build I forgot Herta was on Atk boots, which only works with Himeko around for triggers so I can switch those and maybe put on ER rope. And then just focus on making the other side better and giving them Ruan Mei.

Also I don't have Acheron, does using her ult count 3 times for the PF buff since you hit the button 3 times?

PF almost convinced me to build Serval but honestly ER rope + Solitary Healing Kafka seems to do the job well enough.

Idk what to do with the first half though, my Herta build doesn't seem strong enough to solo. I'm also not sure which of the buffs is the best?

Well Huohuo cleans that fight up too. I imagine if there's ever a boss where a buff dispel is extremely useful he'll come out on top. But as it is now I always forget that's even a thing on him and Pela. I bet it's pretty ok on IPC Team Leader and Sanctus Medicus but not a huge time saver

I think Luocha's value is that he doesn't really have to use SP so if you use a really hungry team like with Daniel or something he's the ideal healer. Also sustain with an offensive ult is pretty good especially in Pure Fiction. Huohuo by comparison is SP neutral if you need full healing uptime, also her energy rotation is kinda weird without good light cones but whatever.

Then again judging by his story trial, Aventurine looks like he'll be a 0SP full uptime shielder that brings damage and crit buff and at least some CC resist so maybe Luocha is just washed.

It's definitely a high investment team. Without a dedicated debuffer you need Topaz at E1 and/or S1 or else it gets a little unreliable.

Also 0% chance I ever pull for Robin if you can't put her on mute.

The everfall is after the first "ending" but before the true, actual ending. And you barely have to do it for the true ending, so it can qualify as postgame depending on what you consider that to be.

Yeah I get it but it is an uncommon mindset. Though I occasionally see people regret over investing and making things too easy. I just meant, stuff is designed to be able to be done at E0S0 but E2 and S1 are large power boosts over that. If there wasn't a good reward for investing your money or F2P gems, players would riot.

Though I don't think E2S1 is large enough to trivialize content generally. That's E6.

In fairness if an E2S1 5* didn't let you smash endgame content, the game would have major issues lol

First team comp is a little wacky but it goes so hard with this cycle's trotter buff. Black Swan takes care of Ratio's debuff needs and then explodes enemies just by existing while Bronya feeds the doctor turns.

Got jumpscared doing SU9 for the first time by the Herta eidolon I forgot we were getting. Now she's E6. Hell yeah. Still hard to believe she's the F2P PF queen.

(to ltm) I mean frankly for me that just speaks to how good the direction must be. Of the four you call out, I don't love Cloud and Seph's voices but they are supposed to sound like awkward freaks, Tifa is supposed to sound hesitant and unconfident despite her strengths, and Aerith's VA is doing a great job of humanizing and grounding the character.

If I have any complaints it's mostly in the forced really video gamey stuff like how characters make up lyrics to in-game music or the after-battle quotes that get repeated especially in the first game.

And uh...maybe Red XIII...I can see and respect the vision here but I'm torn on the execution

To be fair to 7R, it also has an extremely good localization, it's just leaning more into the familiar "anime" cliches. Versus Koji-Fox's localization style which no matter what is going on never drops the western European fantasy affect even when he's shitposting (THAL'S BALLS). Genuinely I think FF7R is peak for what it's going for, to me the stereotypical bad/mid JRPG localizations dont look like this, they look like early Genshin Impact (and frankly current Genshin whenever it's filler time)

Yeah I'd agree. The KH influence is way, way more blatant in the recent expansions. The Ascians are cribbing heavily from Organization XIII and by the time Endwalker introduces a new type of magic that is actively fueled by emotion you are neck deep into some bullshit.

And guess what, it's a massive improvement over the GoT stuff, and I love Heavensward! But especially Stormblood which is trying to tackle heavier topics and imo largely not good at it? I guess my point is the vibe is different but the bones are the same. It's fine to not like the vibes.

There's huge thematic and tonal overlap between Kingdom Hearts and FF7R, but also FF14/16, and even Like A Dragon. They are all MUCH closer to KH than they are to Disco Elysium or FromSoft. I think you're mostly just reacting to content and writing quality, as well as cutscene style and direction - FF7R scenes look very similar to KH and those other games do not, probably because Nomura himself is around. But Ichiban Kasuga is what happens if you put a character like Sora into an M-rated crime drama. He is a guy that is literally all about the power of friendship and inherently trusting in the goodness in people to the point of stupidity, and that somehow becomes a strength. Clive metaphysically fights his own inner darkness and comes out of it as a good person who loves his friends and dog. Kingdom Hearts ass motherfucker, if Sora could say fuck he'd act like this. Like, honestly the biggest difference to me between Nomura's team and Yoshi-P's is that the latter are obviously really into Game of Thrones and the dialogue style reflects that.

Overall I agree there's a wider net being cast for the audience, but if you look at the fandoms there's surprisingly big overlap for a reason. And I also agree there's more juice in the writing than in KH, but FF7R also has that juice because so did the original. It's just a lot more interested in meta-reflecting on itself and being much more blatant about it.

Some of the greatest action RPGs of all time, Rebirth improves the battle system even more at the cost of bloat. Ultimately I think Remake is a tighter, better experience overall, but Rebirth is a great time with a lot of charm that can justify the filler if you just want to vibe in the FF7 world. They're not flawless but still both 5 star games imo

I've got Fu Xuan. She doesn't remove debuffs or buffs or heal directly very fast, but I could theoretically improve her if it's possible in F2P.

Personally I like having a limited healer/cleanser (I have Huohuo) because its a huge headache preventer against some bosses, but if you have high Eidolon Lynx or use Bronya a lot or something, probably not strictly necessary.

But also as F2P I'm still looking to pick up a second limited sustain before any more DPS

2.1 story done. Really good! 2.0 was a good intro but I still felt it was mostly setup with no payoff (I just don't think the Firefly date is interesting sorry), it pays off in big ways here. And the dialogue and character writing has come a loooong way, I'm actually impressed. Loved the Aventurine/Ratio/Sunday stuff, just three guys who suck having a miserable time.

(patch ending spoilers) CRAZY amount of twists in the epilogue, did not see the Gallagher thing (or Sunday's "death") coming at all. The factions are cool and another one showing up is a fun surprise. And I'm SO glad to have the Firefly = Sam thing out in the open considering how long ago that leaked. Finally I have no idea what else is coming.

Do you have 0 limited sustains? If so it's a no brainer to pick any of those 4 over a DPS

He seems like the designated 4* option with two debuffs, but also he doesn't seem worth using unless he's at least E2 when he gets his cleanse.

He's still probably going to be Acheron's BiS sustain with or without Market! Only 5* sustain with a debuff unless you count Fire TB.

I mean people have been doing that since Kafka! And it's kind of viable for Ratio. You just don't hear about it much now since it's budget sustain and Gepard has other strong LC options. Acheron will take better advantage of it though.

Gepard has been one of my solo sustains since launch, he's perfectly good but you really, REALLY need to build speed. His auto also tends to be stupid and you often have to manually time his ult.
