I met with a local council woman today about some street lights. We've got two options, so she's like why are you guys so determined to go with Option A - is it cause it's cheaper? I was just like yeah, they are cheaper, quite a bit cheaper actually. She was like hmmm hmm you should really consider pedestrian safety as well.

I'd totally missed the cue to actually sell the idea to her about why we're going with that solution, mainly that there's less light spill and they're lower maintenance so you'll have fewer complaints.

So the conversation went awkward cause now I just look like a greedy developer who just wants the cheapest solution without regard for safety. I went hard with the damage control after that but I don't know if it worked. If she tells the rest of the council that we're only pushing this idea cause it's cheaper (which we are not) then we're screwwwwed

They diagnosed her with SMI, severe mental illness. The thing that really kicked this off 5 or so years ago were the voices she was hearing. They were giving her suicidal thoughts. Telling her people were out to kill her. Even family and stuff.

Certain civs work well as peacekeepers. Sumeria and Australia come to mind. Zulus need to be at constant war to make best use of their abilities. That's rarely a peacekeeper kind of thing to do. If you have a mostly isolated start as Zulus, it's time to restart with a Pangaea world.

Pangaea takes a lot of fun out of exploration and settling though

Has anybody played as the Dutch? Their polder ability seems overpowered especially with Auckland in the game
