So, looks like I'm in the clear. She probably just wants to know if I need help with things or for me to bring up any issues I'm having.

That's a relief. I'm definitely working on getting better at the job. I wanna show that I'm committed to this.

Other than the initial shock, it'll be a good thing in the long run. The workplace was getting toxic and the pay wasn't great.

I spent the first month just kinda chilling and am only now really starting to get into the job search. Still very optimistic.

I wish you luck, man! Glad you got out of there in a way if it was waning on your mental. Dealing with that can destroy your soul.

I feel like the fact that it's in a week and not next day means you're fine. Asking if you need to prep something is a good move though.

The way I got fired a few months ago is I got a meeting invite after hours. Sent at 7:00pm even most people stop working at 5:00pm. It was for the next day just with my director, not my direct manager. It had some clearly bs description like "want to pick your brain about a project".

I figured there was a 80% chance of me being let go. A 15% chance that either my director or manager was leaving or being let go. And maybe a 5% outside chance of some other organizational change or something. I didn't have my hopes up and sure enough, blah blah cutbacks blah blah position eliminated.

Ah shit. I'm sorry. Getting the whole cutback spiel must have been hard to hear.

Have you found anything since then?

Not a problem! Youre preaching to the choir. I run through every single possibility before events like that and assume the worst of them all. Im a bit pessimistic and myopic, so thats a big hindrance.

I feel ya. Not an easy thing to control at times. But we're doing the best we can to calm ourselves down when needed

Thanks! I think the worst part about anxiety is the buildup to the actual event. Cause then your mind has time to create all these different possible scenarios.

You're probably right. I'm most likely being anxious.

I think I'll email her tomorrow though and just phrase it like "oh, do I need to prepare anything for next week's meeting?"

The past 2 years have not been kind to me on a personal level. But one of the really good things was my job and the people I work with. I felt calm and enjoyed working. For me to lose this now would be devasting.....

if lateral or upwards, it would be weird to give you only a month on a new team unless you have a bad reputation.

Lateral. I've tried my best to be cordial with everyone, I make sure to communicate with who I need to, I'm making sure to do the work.

I was really down on myself for the mistakes I made I recently, but a coworker told me not to sweat too much. He said when he first started too that he was pretty overwhelmed with all the steps to remember

No, luckily.

I've been at my company for almost 2 years now (started out on contract, then became full time). I feel like I've been doing good, and I managed to get my performance bonus back in February for my performance in 2023. I recently shifted teams about a month ago though, and have been learning some new processes and protocols. Been making sure to ask questions when needed. I did make some mistakes recently, but nothing too major.

However, just this evening my manager scheduled a 1 on 1 meeting with me for next Wednesday at lunch time . It doesn't say what it's about.

Should I be worried? Should I email her tomorrow and ask what it's about?

I don't think there's anything wrong with being honest about any mental health issues you have, but i don't believe you should be bringing it up right off the bat. Give yourself and the other person some time to get comfortable with one another before you start jumping into more personal things about yourselves.

BPD is a very hard disorder to live with, and requires years of DBT. It can make relationships with others (and even yourself) hard to maintain. So try to go easy on yourself if you find you're scarring off some people. You'll eventually meet those who are willing to give you a chance.
