Anyways what happened is This new girl started in our classroom (as staff, we are all TAs) and I'm starting to crush hard on her. I haven't had a crush in like 2 years. Unless I'm actively doing something else, she ends up slowly becoming the forefront of my thoughts. Otherwise she's always in the back somehow. I'm trying to keep centered and balanced but I can't maintain it. Beyond all the random places my mind goes, all I know is that I like it more when she's around. The reason I like her is because she's beautiful, it's interesting to learn about her because she's so specific about random things, we can disagree respectfully on so much, she has the slightest southern accent, she's an amazing artist, she quotes SpongeBob lol, and most of all, she's capable. A lot of times, the lead teacher will ask all of us to come up with a lesson plan. Nobody else really does anything, so I take the initiative and come up with stuff. She's the only one who comes up to me and asks how she can help and will contribute ideas to me so that we come up with something for the class. If I have to step out in the middle due to another obligation or someone pulls me aside etc, she immediately picks up the mantle and continues the lesson. If she sees me having computer trouble, she'll jump in with hers. We brainstorm really well together, bounce ideas nicely, just feels like really good compatibility when we put our minds together. I can tell she likes me at least somewhat. Asks questions, laughs if I laugh, checks to see my reaction on things, and somehow ends up next to me if we're walking somewhere or sometimes even just sitting. We're always learning about each other. She does have a bf, so I do remind myself to always remember that and not fall too hard. But I can't stop wanting her around and idk what to do. Wat do --- |

We learned every single day a new lick or trick and jammed with each other.. learned together. I knew of Christianity, but I was rebelling hard and got into drugs and we all got in our cups at that age.. but I always tried to do right by others and include them, I didnt want the shitty parts of that to be represented in the world so I sought to take it back. They put me on a sort of pedalstal for being a people person but I never once wanted to make them feel like we couldnt do it together - we were bros until the end. I went off into college and made more friends, we had built up this entitlement about how music sucks but I had ditched it realizing people should be free to do music in the way they really like. Its all about spreading love and appreciation for music after all.. but they sorta kept on with that and so wed hang out and theyd see these other people as just extras hanging around when I would bring them around. They even began looking at their own girlfriends and to some extent my own in those ways. I knew America was great because I had immigrant parents that made the most of it - but I hated racism and the ways people would feel ostracized or left out. They got into exploring more of themselves through comedic jokes and that sorta became their thing, but the jokes sometimes were just all self actualizing for certain people.. sometimes I didnt laugh anymore since I just wasnt like that. That started creating a wedge that I think started when others would comment man you really live a free life, like the old guys! Youre gonna go far! I know it but it was getting bigger. Eventually these Trump years came by and they became extremely patriotic citing The Band (its an actual band) and people like Frank Zappa as real heroes that observed some sorta truth.. I was still on freedom through Hendrix yknow? But it seemed like they grew up and just decided these old toys werent worth playing anymore since they already knew that. Anyways they adopted all of that and when the jokes became racial I was like man weve never ever punched down, were the underdogs man and we got into a spat where I just said fuck it to them.. this was after problems involving making fun of transitioning folk in public at a McDonalds where we started shoving each other, but I hoped theyd grow up and see how shitty that was But nope So I dipped. It was 3 years later and we actually reconnected a week ago. Theyre still onto overanalyzing George Orwell and Faulkner.. Steinbeck as ways to make sense of society and how fucked up it is. How kids dont know this or that or are being too influenced, how its poisonous fruit the idea of self discovery since people can take definitions and create their own context. Last night actually one of them dropped me off and told me man you know if you actually took the time to read the Bible youd be unstoppable - you literally drove that old stupid drunk home and made him feel like he wasnt just sinking through the cracks, you didnt have to do that, but you did and while I appreciate that, I dont see it as that, its actually incredibly weird for me to have heard shit like that all my life from them. I told them I dont ever want to be immortal, a God, intelligent, all knowing - I just wanna be fucking me and that I was glad these kids are killing the past so people like us die out. They dont need these old texts, for the first time ever theyre free to grab the source material without going through the junk and are able to reject it, to really decide for once unfettered by influence. It became this long ass conversation about us growing up with good morals passed on to us which I acknowledged we dont grow in a vacuum.. we have to pass on the good stuff, but trying to control people, looking down on them.. thats not me man, I care and love people but at this point I just wanna work I myself for once Theres obviously wayyy more in this conversation.. Nietzche at a dive bar, recollecting society through the lens of Traveling With Charley.. just to wind up at my house with my homie telling me man youre not even listening to me - you dont get it man, you really dont Ive spent all day thinking of this and Im just like man what the fuck am I gonna do when theyre the only people around me that wanna talk like this - wish we could just all agree and realize shit is right/wrong because it is.. not cause some fucking book says so, not cause we need to, not because we have to --- |
