TopicWi-fi VS Ethernet via wireless router VS Ethernet via Powerline adap

Basically any sort of physical connection between the PC and the modem is not an option. Its upstairs vs downstairs and its not a question of getting a super long cable, I dont want cables running up the stairs or pinned up on the walls, and I dont want to pull the walls apart just to hide all the cables underneath.

if theres such a thing as a wireless router that can provide a Ethernet connection that would be great as I can just plonk it down near the computer, but Im just wondering, does that even exist, and if so, are they even any good? As compared to wi-fi or the Powerline option for example. How would the wireless router connect to my internet? And what would the quality be like

i need to somehow connect my computer to the internet, and have the above 3 main options. The modem+router of the house is way to far away to directly connect it into the computer. AFAIK Wi-fi is the least desirable of the 3, so that leaves using the electrical system of the house via Powerline adaptor, or buying a second router and placing it near the PC.

My main question basically is, since the hypothetical 2nd router Im would need to be wireless, would it even be any better than a wi-fi dongle?

Yup Colosseum will be played via Marine Mammal.

anyways, the Passthrough Powerline thing should serve my needs, right?

https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-Powerline-Pass-through-TL-PA9020P-KIT/dp/B01H74VKZU

this isnt the exact model, but its something like this. One of these things gets connected into my router/modem downstairs, and the other will be connected into my computer upstairs. The two things transfer the Ethernet via the copper wiring/electrical system of the house

I ended up buying a Passthrough Powerline kit. I plug one into the wall near the modem, and connect using a cable, and plug the other one upstairs near the computer, and connect it using a second cable. Seems like a good solution

Yup its definitely a phone cable in the wall. Its not really needed, so could I just pull it out and replace it with an Ethernet cable? Or is the socket only compatible with telephone? If that phone-Ethernet thing is legit Ill just keep the cable as-is and use the converter

edit: or just wifi

Apparently there is such a thing as a phone-Ethernet cable converter. Gonna pick that up instead. Still not sure if that cord I tried was a phone cable or a Ethernet cable. It fit into the mobo port just fine so it might be dead. But its small and square, not wide and rectangular, so its most likely a phone cable

The router is downstairs so I cant connect it from where I am. Tbh I dont know how Ethernet even works, what its supposed to connect into, etc. theres a cable connected into the wall, but apparently its just a phone cable. It was previously plugged into the printer/fax machine via some sort of adapter. It fits into the back of the motherboard, but it doesnt show up in Windows, so its either dead or is a phone cable. If getting an Ethernet cable is as easy as buying one, connecting it to the wall and the pc, I can do that. But dont I need to plug it into a router?

Windows has been installed and everything seems good. My Ethernet cable actually turned out to just be a phone cable, so I have to run to the store to pick up a Wi-Fi adapter. Then, just download some drivers and Ill be good to game!

In Diamond/Pearl you dont even fight the Hearthome Gym Leader until much later on. (Again, Platinum is way better lol)

I think you MIGHT need to visit the contest hall to trigger an event, but if not, to progress, use the Eastern gate at the bottom of the city. In one of the houses, an NPC gives you a Shell Bell, which is a pretty good held item, though. Pick that up before you leave.

Or just play Platinum ;)

I'm thinking I'm going to need to make one of my Pokemon super pretty soon. With stickers? I haven't went there yet, but people keep talking about the beauty contest or whatever.

Guessing youre in Hearthome City. Its just a dumb little mini game, I dont even think its necessary.

Also TC is this your first Pokmon game? Sinnoh is great when experienced through Platinum, and idk how well-done the Diamond/Pearl remakes are. Regardless of how you end up feeling about Brilliant Diamond when youre done with it, please play a couple more games in the franchise.

FireRed/LeafGreen/Lets Go
HeartGold/SoulSilver
Emerald
Platinum
Black/White
Black/White 2
X/Y

pick like any 2 or 3 of these to play through before making up your mind on Pokmon. And thats not even considering the excellent spin-off games and well-done modern romhacks

So, is there a list in this game that tells me which Pokemon needs to be traded to reach it's final form?

Also, what's the name of that one Pokemon that starts off as a normal, and then can evolve a bunch of ways depending on what it's Holding when it reaches that level. I think it's a dog. Might be kind of fun sometime to build an entire team around them.

Eevee is the evolution Pokemon you mentioned. In D/P its only available post-game, unless youre playing Platinum (the superior way to play through Sinnoh).

Why is everyone so mean to shinji?

Why make a robot that can only be piloted by children?

What's the instrumentality project?

Why are the angels attacking nerv headquarters?

Where did angels came from?

What is even happening in the last episode of evangelion?

Gonna try answering these

1)Because every character has some unresolved trauma? From Shinjis viewpoint theyre all a bunch of jerks but in reality he needs to grow a pair and stop feeling sorry for himself. He doesnt exactly like the person he is and assumes other people see him the same way.

2) Magic science stuff. Kinda spoiler-y but each robot has organic components, and a soul that can only be synchronized with certain people.

3) NGE is notorious for having a bunch of overly-complex jargon that doesnt mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Its meant to be a meta commentary on how excited nerds will get over the stupidest things. That being said, Instrumentality is the idea that humans should lose all sense of self and ego, and become a collective hive mind consciousness to achieve true bliss and ascend to a higher plane. Basically, if everyone is all one, no one will get their feelings hurt. The show ends with Shinji making the choice that its better to be your own self, and accept that other people are their own selves. Whats important is that you love yourself first and foremost.

4) The angels are attacking NERV HQ because the original angel, Adam is hidden deep underground. (Its actually revealed to be Lillith, the devil equivalent, I guess). Making contact with the original angel will trigger a new Impact and destroy humanity.

5) Dont remember lol

6) From my understanding, the events of the first half of the movie occur, up until Instrumentality occurs and Shinji gets god powers. The last two episodes happen within this Instumentality mindscape, and the main characters basically go through interventions to reconcile with their unresolved trauma. After accepting certain things, Shinji decides to end Instrumentality and allow people to live on as normal. In the movie, he doesnt exactly learn this lesson and things diverge from there.

Ah, not Cut.

after getting Cut theres a short side quest you can do in the same area. Theres an entrance to the cave on the right-most side of cycling road, not hidden. Go to the deepest part of the cave and find a girl with pink hair. Youll trigger an escort mission similar to the one with Cheryl in Eterna Forest. Its optional, and not much reward iirc but its cool, at least. While youre there, try finding that hidden cave on the left side of cycling road, so you at least know where it is for later. In platinum youre able to explore that side of the cave immediately, but in DP and Im assuming these remakes, you need strength in order to progress deeper into the cave

Wow you sound like you know your stuff OP.

This was my team from when I was a kid on Pokmon yellow back in 99 I did t really go massively strategic and just based on what I thought looked cool. How would you rate it?

* Gyrados
* Alahkazam
* Golem
* Articuno
* Zapdos
* Random pokemon I used as a HM mule.

Pretty darn good. Id say all those Pokmon benefit from Gen 1 mechanics like the Special Stat. Gyarados had base 100 special back then, as opposed to 61 nowadays, so blasting opponents with Surf TBolt and Blizzard was actually optimal. Golems probably the weakest link, learnset is not great, and for some weird reason Rock Throw only has 65% accuracy lol. Rock Slide is a late game TM, and its main attacking move would probably have to be Dig. That being said, 1 mediocre Pokemon doesnt make for a bad team. A+

I can see Zapdos being an S tier mon, but I Gyarados is definitely not that high up. FRLG does not have Physical Special split, and certain moves dont exist, so it cant make great use of attacks like Bite, Aqua Tail, Ice Fang, etc. its moveset is gonna end up being something like Surf, Strength, and maybe Bite, and Ice Beam if youre willing to invest $80k into buying the TM from the game corner. Thats most likely the same moveset Blastoise or Vaporeon would carry. If we were judging based on a hypothetical more modernized Kanto as seen in various romhacks, then yeah, the early Magikarp is definitely S Tier. Nidoking pre-gen 6 has 10 less base Atk than it has now, and only has Poison Point as an ability, not Sheer Force, but if you wanted to be generous, an A rank is possible. Its got a wide movepool and can be acquired extremely early. If were talking a modernized romhack like with Gyarados, Nidoking might even be S Tier at that point. Sheer Force and +10 atk with Poison Jab/Sludge Bomb, Earth Power, 80BP Dig, 120BP Thrash, and other moves, certainly make for a busted Pokemon.

Btw there are many many romhacks that update older games with physical/special split, new moves and fairy typing, etc, and I highly recommend playing them. The most fun Ive had with Pokmon games recently have been with romhacks. Either refreshes like Blazing Emerald and Renegade Platinum, new regions like in Gaia and Dreams, or something totally different, like with Rocket Edition or Adventure Red Chapter

Is it really though? Fire type pokemon with the strongest fire type moves can one shot it if they're fast enough.

Jynx has base 115 speed, the fastest fire types in Kanto are Charizard and Ninetales with 100, and those 2 arent extremely common anyways. Also the Jynx is traded so it is almost guaranteed to not be at a level disadvantage. Its obtainable after getting the Good Rod, and then fishing in Viridian City for a 100% Poliwag/Whirl encounter to trade with. From that point it basically carries the run with Ice Punch and TM Psychic. Destroys the poison and fighting types on Cycling Road, the Glooms and Weepinbells on the other side of Fuchsia City, rips apart Koga, takes down the optional Fighting Dojo, beats all the Golbats/Machokes/Sandslashes/Arboks/Koffings in Silph Co, as well as Giovanni. It takes a bit of a backseat from the Psychic heavy Saffron Gym, the water routes and Blaines fire gym, but it picks right back up to decimate Viridian Gym and 75% of the Elite 4 single-handedly. Pair Jynx with a mon using Thunderbolt like Jolteon or Raichu and you shred through absolutely everything

*technically Rapidash is the fastest at 105, but its also extremely uncommon and they usually only carry Stomp and Fire Spin as damaging moves. By the time you start seeing these Pokemon you probably have a Surf mon on your team anyway
