Is it bad i'm already thinking of divorce when i'm only engaged?
Obsessing over it? Yes. That's going to tank the relationship no matter what.

Considering it a possibility if you're not careful? NO. It's fucking wise. It's realistic by today's standards.

People who shame you for making that cautious consideration prior to getting married are worthless fools. They don't have your best interests in mind; they're pissed you're daring to question their comfortable status quo while not obediently contributing it. You're thinking differently and they don't like it. Simple as that. You don't have to say it, but in your mind feel free to tell them to fuck off with that manipulation (relatives included). Signing up for marriage should not ever be treated lightly, especially not for modern men in the west.

You can absolutely consider methods of self protection as a man (that examine your partner's integrity) and still manage to be mature enough to have a long successful marriage. Some of those precautions can actually be pretty reliable shit tests for hos who are just out to use you, not love you. A woman who's real and actually cares about you will (albeit grudgingly) understand, partly because she's been testing you at the same time. For a marriage, that's who you should be checking out: someone who can put up with your relationship having equal consideration and support. Don't waste your time with hypocrites who bitch about you taking a closer look at their character before a serious commitment like marriage. That just shows they're not really considering the potential impact(s) the changes could have on your life specifically. They're too busy thinking of the benefits for themselves. What a great candidate for your ring, right...?

If you meet someone who's made it clear they're feeling as committed and supportive of you as you want to be for them, that's great. I like hearing about that; I'm actually pro-marriage for couples doing it right and practice honest mutual consideration towards each other. To me that's a beautiful phenomena. Unfortunately, that's becoming a rarer and rarer experience for young couples in the US, hugely in part because of social double standards and archaic legal institutions actively sexist towards non-wealthy men. The top 10% of men can scandalously afford to dance around family court penalties. With enough status and wealth they can practically get away with anything. The grand majority of lower class men can not. Regular class men need to practice greater discretion when choosing who they wife up to avoid getting reamed by biased legal institutions that actively perpetuate harmful classism. All that typically takes is making a girlfriend's integrity a higher priority.

So it's not hateful, immature, or misogynistic for a young middle class man who's building himself up to take a moment and question whether or not he's ready for marriage with a potential partner yet. I applaud it. He's thinking with the head above his shoulders...the one that keeps him alive. Neglecting to do so is brainless and blindly idealistic. And I'm proud of a young man who stops for a moment and has the wit to run that self analysis before a decision that will hugely impact his life. That is real progress in action. That's a sign of a man worth marrying.

Funny thing is that scenario does happen and it's not uncommon for the person to further flip-flop their declared orientation multiple times. That's why critics consider it a "waiting game" after someone who originally identified as straight supposedly cries wolf about being gay/bi. There's a decent chance they're going to flip again later and suggest they were something besides straight the whole time...

The situation is especially awkward for folk who are not the heterosexual majority. If it's not ideal for them to reveal their orientation at the time, they can be forced out into the open (both to peers and enemies). Plus they may have to deal with rejecting someone else's unrequited advance and potential drama that follows.

Another unfortunate trend is the likelihood of the wannabe matchmakers basically trying to get their single loser friend in the clique an unsuspecting dating partner so it's less awkward to socialize around them. That typically turns out bad for the new partner who's really just getting used like a utility of convenience...

There's plenty of cis women who will straight up tell you up front they are not interested in dating a trans partner either. As mentioned earlier in this topic: many cis lesbians vocally have that perspective.

This is just a longstanding trend I have noticed over the years. I support trans people having the same freedom to find consensual partners. However, that should come with the realization that those applicable partners are likely going to be limited when taking into account the rights of other people.

Did the victim actively catfish the murderer?
In a sense, it's a possibility. If the victim identified as a woman and the suspect only agreed to meeting because he believed the victim was a biological woman...yeah, that is technically catfishing. IMO it should never warrant murder. However, it's a situation that is very well known for leading to extreme reactions, including violence. While that does not excuse the violent reactions, intentionally tip-toeing around full disclosure during sexual encounters has always been playing with fire...

The prior meeting supposedly only involved oral sex on the suspect. If the victim was able to pass convincingly enough as a woman up close that the suspect was unable to detect it was another man, oral sex could have been performed without suspicion or incident. It's entirely feasible that the suspect was convinced he was engaging in oral sex with someone he believed was a woman during the previous encounter and had a emotional meltdown when he found out that was not the case on their next meeting. It's not an unheard of scenario in communities with people who present differently than their biological sex.

Last time I checked, men who are seriously not interested in homosexual encounters and specifically only want cis-gender female partners typically get intensely upset after finding out they got "conned" into engaging with someone who doesn't qualify. Naturally finding out that they just received a sexual favor during what they later considered a deception will generally escalate this even further. Some men might even jump to the conclusion that they had been raped due to the presumed blurred lines of consent. That can easily become an emotional powder keg...

I'm a gay dude, so this "trap" controversy does not hit a personal note for me. There's usually 101 easily spotted red flags for determining whether or not a hook up is another cis gender homosexual male. The truth comes out quicker between gay men. And, frankly, a rudimentary blowjob for us is rarely worth a callback. But for a thirsty straight guy who's convinced he won the lottery after finding someone he thinks is a pretty woman/potential girlfriend who doesn't shy away from BJs...yeah, he might call "her" back if he's convinced she's the real deal. And this story sounds like another case of how that can turn horribly wrong.

Yup. Being a malicious killer is not a gendered concept.

One thing that needs to be pointed out when addressing a female killer is to not automatically label her as mentally unhinged or "psycho" for committing a murder. Making that kneejerk presumption reinforces the errored stereotype that a woman will only commit a heinous act of violence if she's pushed to an emotional brink. It pushes the flawed idea that no woman is capable of malicious intent and evil initiatives just as much as male offenders; that she will only act out in extreme violence when she herself is somehow a victim as well.

There's plenty of women in criminal history that have committed brutal murders with evil intent that easily debunks that narrative. Some of which were protected privileged women living lives free of critical abuse who just one day decided they wanted to kill someone. And said killers have taken the lives of men, children, and other women.

If you would judge a man as monstrous and unworthy of sympathy for committing a vicious murder towards a partner, it's important to apply equal judgement towards a woman who commits the same bloodthirsty act. The possibility of the boyfriend in this story cheating on the girlfriend should not excuse her lethal reaction any more than for an angry male lover killing a suspicious girlfriend. She committed a murder out of rage. The sentencing for that should not be a gendered outcome.

Wealthy men can attract plenty of women, primarily because wealth and status are attractive traits in men to many women.

While rich men looking for worthwhile commitment may still face hurdles finding a girlfriend, ambitious rich men who never bother with commitment can reel in hordes of thirsty women like fish. If hooking up and using partners like utilities to facilitate it are all the guy wants, being rich will generally have him set with substantially less consequences than middle class men.

Why?

Ask the hundreds of women who constantly throw themselves at those men despite knowing this.

If she's an adult, bothering to seriously ask would be invalidating her right to choose partners.

Only overactive puritans "show concern" towards the age gap between an adult woman over 21 and her older partners. It doesn't just demonize the men involved; it also infantilizes the woman despite being an independent adult. It implies she's not mentally mature enough to make her own decisions and lives as a perpetual victim. In a sense it's penalizing her for looking youthful.

If that's not what you're doing, good.
