I bought Mega Man X3 and Crono Trigger with maps this week.

I already have a copy of Metal Warriors and Earthbound among others. I only started primarily collection SNES games around 2 years ago. Like, I bought my Metal Warriors copy in summer 2004 for like 25 bucks. That was a lucky pickup.

Here's my collection as it stands. I'm not really buying shelf game/low end stuff atm -- only getting those if I specifically like them.

Yeah those are awesome. I love how mix CDs I made for specific trips or events instantly reactivates dormant teen-brain neural pathways. It just puts me right back there. Usually accompanied by a nostalgia tinged gringe, and an inner smile that makes my heart go soft.

September 2016

The girl I was dating was super into indie music. I made her a mix CD with some of my favorite songs for our first date. We ended up listening to while traveling to a few different places for our date. It was fun.

Trying to remember the songs -- I remember some of the bands more clearly. I had songs on there by

The Mountain Goats
Lady Lamb the Beekeeper
Car Seat Headrest
Of Montreal
Grimes
La Sera

I haven't made any since I got a new laptop that lacked an optical drive though. I sort of miss doing it. I got a CD burner in 1999, so it was something I had done for a long time. A few years ago, I was cleaning up my childhood bedroom and purged a bunch of ones I made in high school. I wish I had them still now. The hard drive I kept my legacy music died. So, some of the songs I had on those CDs are lost forever now.

Deer hunting is not like point and click, like a game.

I do not hunt deer. But I grew up around it. Seriois hunters spend a lot of time practicing. They scope out trials, set up tree stands, or sit in the brush for hours. Most hunts end up without a shot. In rifle season, when you do get a shot, it is at long ranges. There is no guarantee you will land the shot.

If you are muzzle load hunting or bow hunting, things get even harder.

Besides, people eat these things. Lots of families suppliment their pantries this way. Keeps people out of foodbanks. Lots of hunters donate thier kills to the needy too.

Plus, the limit on deer per season and type is small. There are deer everywhere I grew up. Hunting helps prevent them all from starving in mass.

I mean seriously. Look at the tanker truck car chase in Road Warrior. Fury Road is just that cranked up to 11 with a bigger budget and modern filming techniques.

Personally, Mad Max is my favorite in the series. Watching Max get pushed and pushed until he goes full on vigilante while you also see society collapse around him. He's a tragic character, a good law man in a broken world. He ends up broken by the end too, a person more akin to the gang members than a law man. You see him reclaim humanity and morality in the subsequent films though. This gives him a really great character arc.

Yeah I use to listen to Coast to Coast AM all the time. I liked the weird stories and the kooks. But it all seemed basically harmless.

But around 2010 or so, I noticed the tonr start to change. Espeically with the callers. They seemed to get darker and more and more paranoid. If that even makes sense.

I stopped listening because it felt less fun and more and more sinister. And theories that were fine for late night weirdos started to catch on with like normal and in theory, fairly smart people.

I have two liberal arts degrees, including a post grad degree. I see topics like this all the time on the tech forums I read.

I always ask why do STEM majors worry about us so much? We hardly ever discussed STEM majors hardly at all in our classes. I think what STEM people do is cool, and I respect their work as important to society. Not sure why so many of them think our areas of study are worthless though. People are not automatons. What's the point of a computer or technology if there's no creative forces to put such tech to work and those around to ask if such works are good or ethical?

Here's another hot tip. Not everybody picks a major to get rich. College is not a purely economic function. Knowledge has value in itself regardless of the market forces that decide the size of the check you get.

I mean, you're giving the Democrats a massive benefit of the doubt in assuming they wanted to undo the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act(2006), which passed via voice vote(i.e. literally no one objected to it) in a lame duck session. It's safe to assume the Dems in the 2006 Congress just didn't care, and they, to my knowledge, never even proposed fixing it until very recently(and even then, it's mostly people like Bernie and other progressives pushing to undo that specific provision that hamstrings them financially).

Constitutionally speaking, there's no reason the USPS couldn't be privatized(certainly the current SC wouldn't object!) and that was the obvious object of PAEA i.e. to manufacture a reason it had to be privatized, and, again, the Dems just kind of shrugged and approved. It would be a horrible tragedy if it were, of course.

I mean, maybe they did not. Maybe they knew it was a waste time to try.

Same logic applies to the GOP too. Did they make any efforts?

I mean ultimately, the law exists. It hurts the USPS bottom line. That is the real point in this topic. The rest is political theater amd political slight of hand. Either party could do something about it the law.

K, now explain how the biggest loss was under Obama. If what the Republicans did was so wrong, why didn't Obama and the DNC revoke it when they had the power to do it?

I'll skip civics 101. We know how laws get made.

111th Congress - Democrats control both chambers, but lack a super majority in the Senate
112th Congress - Republicans control the House. Democrats have a slim majority in Senate, still not a super majority
113th Congress - See 112th
14th Congress - Republicans control both chambers

Simply put, there was not political support to undo the Pension law in legislative branch. The democratic party never had the ability to unilaterally undo the law. The 111th Congress featured Democratic control in both chambers, but the Democrats did not have a super majority in the Senate. That means filibuster rules applied.
