And FYI the Michigan protests were in the middle of May. Guess what didn't happen at the end of May? A significant spike of new cases. Just admit that you only care for one single narrative and you aren't consistent in your opinions.

Edit: Looks like there were some in the middle of April but my point still stands. No significant spike in covid-19. There's a downward trend starting April 30th onward.

We had already pushed for pilot programs to dispatch county mental health professionals to mental health calls, and fire department EMTs to opioid overdose calls, without police officers. We have similarly experimented with unarmed, community-oriented street teams on weekend nights downtown to focus on de-escalation. We could similarly turn traffic enforcement over to cameras and, potentially, our parking enforcement staff, rather than our police department.

No. I just don't find it wise. They're acknowledging the spread of transmissions but they don't seem to care because protesting is a good cause. It's a win/lose situation. Even if police reform occurs people will die from a virus due to these protests. They are medical experts but they aren't condemning this, they're encouraging it.

And FWIW police brutality is a serious social crisis, not a public health concern. It's dishonest for anyone to say this. That would be like saying soldiers killed in a war is a public health crisis.
