I think you're confusing her with Morgause (her sister, and another half-sister of Arthur), the Queen of Orkney and the mother of Mordred by Arthur. The two are often confused for each other due to their similar names, relationship to Arthur as siblings, and antagonistic nature towards Arthur, but Mordred (Arthur's only child by a sister) is usually portrayed as the son of the Queen of Orkney, as Gawain, Agravaine, Gaheris, and Gareth are almost always referenced as his (half) brothers by Morgan and King Lot of Orkney.

Points to note, there should be a pause between "erect" and "and", plus the words "square to front" should be rushed out as fast as your best drill voice will allow.

I've read a couple of versions, and one translator mentioned heavily editing duel descriptions on the grounds that they were repetitive and dull.

(Probably something that worked better with a storyteller providing actions and their own flavour, but less effective on the page.)

The Romance isn't exactly an original composition, more an edited collection of stories about the period. I've also read, "Records of the Three Kingdoms in Plain Language", an older more fantastical version. That one's a bit more Dynasty Warriors tbh, with the brothers taking on thousands alone, and Daoist spells seeing battlefield use.

Romance is a bit more grounded, but shapes its narrative to fit the philosophy.

I read the Martin Palmer translation from Penguin Classics, not sure if I'm qualified to judge its literary merit though.

For piano, it's largely a reading issue.

Other instruments do have preferences though. Woodwind in general prefer flat keys but strings like sharps.

Naturally this doesn't apply particularly at the highest levels, but is a thing for more intermediate instrumentalists.
