Like I'm not sure anyone was expecting Prime 4 to be some masterpiece given the development history
look just let me hold on to hope while I can

It is really weird that this will be the first Retro Studios-developed release since Tropical Freeze in 2014.

I'm glad it wasn't the hardest boss for me because I was a dumdum who did not see the very obvious "I'm going to explode" deathrattle and had to fight it again lol

Well, that's not being wholly fair. I had PTSD from Widow because she killed me with her fake-out death, so I didn't want the same thing to happen again.
My heart was pounding so fucking fast I thought it was going to come out of my body when I beat Last Judge. You bet your ass I got the hell out of dodge as soon as he started shaking

Honestly peak brutality of the game but also peak rewarding rush of the whole game. Guess you can't have one without the other

Omg magma bell

Had to google that and shitting myself so hard right now. Last Judge ultimately might have been the hardest boss of both games to me, so goddamn I wish I knew!

Yeah First Sinner is the easiest of those. Hell, maybe put Broodmother there instead and there's probably something else that's harder. The rest of those took me like 3 hours though, which I think is around how long NKG took

Really? What were they?

Lost Lace is one of the ones I haven't done yet, I can maybe see that one.
Last Judge, First Sinner, Tormented Trobbio, Karmelita, Lost Lace

At least I mostly didnt mind beating my head against the wall...well, until Karmelita completely broke me

Her and Last Judge are probably the only 2 that I think took me longer to beat than NKG

I felt like there were 5+ bosses in Silksong as hard as NKG (who was easily the hardest part of HK)

Wind Waker was my first thought. Not all that well-executed there either, but a great concept

The Roots
Living Legends

Yeah, I know I'll be the only vote for that last one, but the Legends are some of the earliest pioneers of the underground scene and my favorite of these groups. Also OutKast would have been my other favorite, but 2 people hardly feels like a group and they don't seem to be struggling for votes!

Alright can I rant about something? I love this game, but shards are such a godawful mechanic I'm not sure how it survived playtesting.

It was fine in the beginning when it was a way to get some damage from a safe distance against mobs and the costs were low, but by the time act 2 started, the costs started rising, and now by the end of act 2, every boss fight eats 100-200 shards per attempt. You have to guess when you are about to win against a boss to start using them, because if you just use them every attempt, a single boss will eat all of your shards and you'll be forced to farm. You end up conditioning yourself to not use red tools often, which in turn means I've never learned to use half of them, as even practicing a new tool is costly. And the system is not even necessary for balance because they already have limited clip sizes. Just reduce the clip size for the most broken ones (turns out they have been doing that already) and maybe nerf Architect's recharge and you could have the game work with no shards at all.

Heck Architect is my least used crest by a lot, because its biggest benefits (3 red slot and clip recharge) make you burn shards even faster. And I HATE farming in videogames so I'm just not going to bother.

It's not a huge issue in the grand scheme of things, the game is still amazing, etc. But I think it's the worst issue about it. It's one of the reasons I keep postponing bosses like I'm doing. Just the recent run of Broodmother/Sentinel/ Lugoli and a few 1st Sinner attempts reduced my shard stock from 700 to 100 and Im struggling to build it back now.
I never really struggled with shards until the very final boss, but I suppose I did do occasional farming when I found good spots. And just doing all the sidequests and stuff, I was always pretty loaded. Was maxed out on 20 shell shards when I hit the final boss and eventually burned them all lol

Ultimately though, yeah, I resonate with this rant and think it's an entirely pointless mechanic that adds nothing to an otherwise masterful game.

That was definitely a fuck yeah wait should I be cheering this moment

But it was possibly the most fuck yeah moment of the entire show

Good deal, thanks! I think I'll do the same thing and do a Judgement run with Strength and Death both active then. Judgement runs are a blast and almost all I do now post-game.
Welcome to your Divinity.
Sooo about the Arcana fated list prophecy to beat the underworld with every different Arcana. I just tried a no death defiance run (to use the Strength Arcana) and lost to Chronos phase 2 aughhh. I'm assuming you have to actually activate Strength for this prophecy and not just select it?

But maybe you can also have all your death defiances and just lose them all, purposely even if needed, and win with no death defiances left?

Its the only Arcana left on that list and it's an annoying one lol
