Christian, so I observe it. Will definitely try to get to Christmas Eve service, though live stream is available if I can't. I live alone but will likely have dinner with my parents and my brother at some nearby point. Gifts we don't do, my folks will likely have a tree up. I don't. Oh, company is going to have a Christmas dinner at some point too which I certainly mean to attend. Missed it last year as local buses chose that time to not show up, and I can't drive or walk far enough anymore to get to the train station on my own power.

North - Nurmes, Finland
South - Tampa, Florida

And from my location in the Netherlands:

East - again Nurmes, Finland
West - not that far off the east coast in the US, potentially Atlanta, Georgia, which is just a smidge farther to the west than Detroit, Michigan.

Sweets I keep out of the house. On salty snacks, I'm able to measure out a serving, put the rest away, and leave it at that. Sweets or licorice, I'm best off letting the sleeping dragon lie.

Working office hours since about two decades so there is no question about it, morning person. And I do best keeping the same hours on weekends.

I remember in college when we had groups working assignments, many of us only met late in the morning but there was one that made sure they were all present and ready by 8:30. In hindsight, they had the right idea.

Been a while, but yes. All NKL but for a single 3KL that was overturned on appeal. Rest of 'em were deserved for usually trolling, and with the overturn, a relaxation to NKL would have sufficed. But I was young and foolish, and I've shed at least the former.

Ikari Warriors was terrible as well.

I like Swedish pop as much as the next guy, but the first time you die and lose your weapons more than 10 mins in the game, the rest of it is a constant mess of typing ABBA for more lives lost in seconds as you'll never catch up with the game again. But I think it may be the NES version specifically with that issue.

For me the worst game I've ever ever personally played was Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing. Yes I actually played it.

Likewise. Alex Navarro's GameSpot video review of it is an excellent example of Show, don't tell.

Sold my car in 2022 for more than I had anticipated, and the lack of further taxes and insurance is very pleasing. I already did not drive much anymore so in terms of gas (far more expensive in the Netherlands than in the USA, the tax on it is far higher than the actual fuel) it wasn't a big deal anymore. License expired this spring.

Not American. I consistently vote when I get to, here. Significantly, that's around the corner and done in under 10 minutes before working from home. I wonder how long my "I always vote!" would last if I had to get to a polling station by car or taxi and line up for X hours.

By 9/11 I was 21. Foreign, but better believe it was all over our news as it happened also. I got home from uni to my parents having the TV on to it, we're six hours ahead of EST.

"Sit down and shut up."
Me: "This is *now*?"
"Yep."

That was right after the second impact.

I was 5 when the Challenger accident occurred. I saw it, maybe not live, Netherlands at the time may not have *had* live access, eighties was a different era. May have been on the news later that day. I knew people died, but was probably a bit too young to fully grasp that.

Not in myself. I can think of a few things my sister remembers differently from me, and as a kid I figured she must be lying, but over time I've come to accept that either of us, or even both, can easily be misremembering. Human memory is really not that reliable especially over time.

Never played. An ex-girlfriend was a fan, but I am not sure if she ever showed me any of it.

I'm for it. The Netherlands has a slightly shorter DST period and we tend to get on a week (sometimes two) after you and get off a week before. This means that with my fiancee in the USA, we are temporarily one hour closer to each other than usual, which rather messes with our regular schedule. Good to have it restored.

Ah of course not. Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is 2024 too. That has priority. Metaphor has my eye.

When was that game released?

2017 originally, 2019 for the improved S version I have. The demo ran on my old potato, but the full game ends up requiring Windows 10, which it didn't have, nor a C: big enough to be able to switch to it.

The most recent games I have are low spec ones from 2023, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective and PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo. Two more needing Windows 10. Don't have anything 2024 yet. The upcoming Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has a good chance to become the first.

I've been on a not-so-quick playthrough of Dragon Quest XI last year. Finished the main game in October at last and now of course on postgame.

While it's not been fully exclusive, it wins by default.

Never been a big fan. I do remember an impromptu school trip to London i 1998 (the official ones had been cancelled that year so a few people had thrown together an alternative) in which the hotel we were in was sufficiently bad that most of us just took our meals at a nearby Mac instead. Otherwise it is very sporadic, I think last time I grabbed a QP with cheese at the Michigan airport waiting for my transatlantic connection back home. Definitely had Tarantino in my head claiming it is called the Royale with cheese in France (it is) because of the metric system (that reason is his invention).

Yep, or more commonly called All Saint's Day. The Dutch word Allerheiligen can render to either.

In Koudelka on the PS1, that day is interpreted as "the day all the saints have a day off". The game starts on Oct 31st, and when it strikes midnight in the story, suddenly the demonic activity gets much worse as the saints are not around to hold them back anymore.

Is it as hard as FFIII DS, because that game was HARD.

It was and it's not.

Actually found my cart last night (after failing after reading this post, seem to have overlooked it) and played just the opening. I do feel like redoing it, but maybe not right now. still on the DQ11 postgame and on my DSLite I am technically on the GBA Pokemon Emerald, though it hasn't been on for weeks. On the one hand, I fear starting another handheld RPG will raise the risk of never returning to it. On the other hand, this is gaming, so doing what I want to do is never wrong. On the gripping hand, who still does Larry Niven references?

That works. I'd know what you mean.

Been a while since I had any, actually. Licorice is something I don't buy for myself as I'd have a hard time pacing myself with it. Better to just not have it in the house. Good thing I never get anybody at the door for St Maarten or all the leftover candy would go way too quickly after the 11th.

The game is pretty cheap but with Capcom re-releasing everything these days, I think a collection is probably coming

I own the lot across different systems (1 and 2 on 3DS VC, 3 and 4 on PS1, DQ on PS2), but if it all goes into a collection and it hits Steam, I may still go for it for convenience purposes. I'm pretty much done collecting, digital works for me. Doesn't need shelf space for one thing.

Yeah, there's a meter that starts counting up, using specific skills and walking around causes it to go up faster, once the meter gets to 100, it's game over.
To keep going (somewhat) you have to store your stuff and either restart from the beginning or the last place you saved.

Then there's the actual HP in the game, there are no inns or healing skills, you rely completely off of potions you find or buy

I never got anywhere in that. It was the first game I got for my PS2 (late bloomer, this was 2005). PAL version, which if I recall *has* no quicksaveand starts you with a single consumable for making hard saves. I wanted to hang on to it, so I made a coupke attempts at the first dungeon, died each time after a while because I didn't understand the combat system well yet, and could restart the game from scratch every time. Eventually I put it aside for a few other games I bought early on, including Final Fantasy X, and I never ended up going back to Dragon Quarter.

I mean, technically, I still want to try it again, but after 19 years I think we can safely say it may never happen. There's always another game or ten with more priority.

Oddly, Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter comes to mind. It's not so much health but a counter that runs out over time, moreso if certain skills are used, and if it runs empty, game over.

Pizza slice in the 600-700 range, I'll say! A big eater may well want a second, but the whole pizza feeds three at least, IMO. I ate more in my twenties than now, but still.

Basic frozen pizza margherita Monday when I had no strength to cook and ordering in was still made impossible by non-functioning downstairs doorbell. I keep emergency pizzas on hand for this, and vegetarian ones as I tend to go vegetarian two days a week and I never know when an inability to cook may strike. Also, they're cheap. Doorbell should have been fixed Wednesday, so after I have confirmed this with somebody, ordering in is possible once more.

A *proper* pizza is longer ago. Got a tuna with cheese crust from Domino's in June. It was good, I like tuna on pizza and the cheesy crust add-on was tasty if a calorie bomb. But that's okay as a sometimes food.
