Definitely looks like Harry Potter, I guess.

Hagrid looks off though. Not even just compared to the old one. In official art he always seemed really wide. Here he seems to have relatively normal proportions. >_>

I remember thinking the Celda style getting long in the tooth and we only had that for the duration of the GameCube. If they keep the BotW-verse for two whole console generations...oof >_>

Well, one less thing I care about if that's the case. If Nintendo fucks up Metroid I'll never have to buy a Nintendo console again, so there's that <_<

Tommy.

Take away the fact that he has bar none the coolest suits and zords. Just him as a character.

Constantly forgetting his morpher, not listening to the communicator, showing up to battles late, and barely even participates himself. He plays his flute and the Dragonzord is mostly automated. Then he becomes the leader and he's just diet Jason.

He got better later but that was after MMPR >_>

Finally bought Phantom Liberty back during the steam summer sale, this gonk game has consumed every weekend I've had since.

Again it's not that either of these things are necessarily bad stories in isolation but it's extremely off putting to play nice with the genocidal traitor tyrant, and then suddenly go hard-ass on your former friend who was very rightfully pissed.

And I get that there's a place for a story that acknowledges the dangers of revolutionaries continuing their own brand of tyranny after overthrowing the old one. But again, the dichotomy of these two events happening in such close proximity felt weird. >_>

I really didn't care for how Transformers One had Optimus ready to spare the main villain for his crimes against humanity (er...robotanity?) and then tells Megatron to fuck the hell off for killing that bad guy. >_>

Like I could stomach one or the other. But both of those details in the same story didn't sit right with me lol

I really liked 4's social links. Smoothed out the rough edges of 3's and I felt for most of them. They moved a little too cartoony in 5 imo, less like normal people who just happen to share the world with the protagonist.

5 had the best battle system, not just in mechanics but in presentation. Everything just looked amazing.

3 had my favorite incorporation of worldbuilding into the plot. Like I really felt like the events of the plot were having an effect on the setting as the game went on. Though I do wish "apathy syndrome" was explored a bit more.

If you're going to go out of the way to make the love interest a demon, I'd prefer their demon nature to play some sort of role in the relationship.

I don't really mind if they make it bad or good, but it should cause some sort of complication in the relationship that has to be overcome.

Final Fantasy VIII.

I gaslit myself into thinking it was some misunderstood gem. Surely all these people telling me "actually FFVIII is good and everyone just misunderstands Squall!" Couldn't be wrong.

But no it just fucking sucks lol. It gets good during the parade assassination and you think you've finally turned a corner and found the overlooked masterpiece its fans are selling you on. But then it goes right back to being stupid.

Except Selphie. I will die for Selphie. (Incidentally, Selphie's infilitration mission was the only other part of the game I really enjoyed)

I guess I'll know after I see the movie, but this seems kind of unnecessary. Do we need to see every villain degenerate from "mundane jackass" to "evil"? The world is filled with evil people who are evil for no other reason than their own love of money, power, and influence.

I am morbidly curious as to how the GOP will react to Trump's death.

The optimistic take is that nobody will be able to replicate Trump's cult of personality and the party will struggle with splintering factions.

But the world has beaten even the slightest inclination for optimism out of me so I assume Trump is going to basically be the Jesus of the right. GOP will talk about him in the same context that they talk about Jesus or God. "We're doing what Trump would've wanted. I ask myself, what would Trump have done? Trump is smiling on you from heaven."

And it'll work.

I do wonder where the "games are art" discourse originated.

Like, wherever one stands on the issue, I don't recall there being much of a push to say toys are or are not art, or board games are or are not art. But at some point, video games specifically had their artistic validity called into public question and it became a sticking point. >_>

I enjoyed Ebert though. I don't really care about movies but it was fun to hear his takes.

It does seem redundant to have a universal rating system, and then a bunch of additional, personalized content warnings.

It perhaps would be worthwhile to petition the industry to review what kind of information ratings give the audience, and how that information is communicated to the audience.

"A baby fucking dies" *is* pretty extreme content and I'd be all for the ratings board finding a way to make that kind of knowledge easily accessible to anyone who wants to avoid it.

But I also largely agree with Nemu, in that it mostly on the viewer to self-regulate.

V (Cyberpunk) vs Eve (Stellar Blade)

It's a tossup, though I haven't finished Stellar Blade so idk how powerful she gets. Eve seems fragile enough to be within killing range for cyberpunk characters. My V is a stealth net runner so if they were forced into a direct fight she wouldn't last long, but Cyberpunk's hacks are hilariously broken.

Guess it comes down to if Eve can rush down V before she get's memory wiped. >_>

I saw it one time when it came out and remember thinking it was funny. I still remember some of the lines.

If you just go to one and say you feel like you might be a danger to yourself they might straight up just put you in right there.

Bear in mind though you'll be at their mercy after that and ime some long term stay people felt they were held there much longer than they needed. Probably varies by location/state/whatever

Also the money might break you but given your current state that might be better off a bridge you cross when you come to it. Still something to consider.
