i already pre-purchased the gold edition. i can't even remember the last time i pre-purchased a game lol, or even paid full price for a game. the first KCD was one of my most favorite games ever. when i first played it and beat it, i immediately started and completed a full second playthrough. i don't know if I've ever even done that with any other game, that's how much I liked it.

tbh even then i wasn't going to pre-purchase it or buy it at launch, but i decided to go ahead and do it the other day when i learned of the massive smear campaign against it perpetrated by white supremacist neo-nazi MAGA chuds who were terminally buttflustered over now debunked rumors that Saudi Arabia had banned the game due to an "unskippable gay sex cutscene". the head of the dev studio had to issue an official statement that the game is not banned in any country they are aware of, and that while there is now a gay romance opportunity in the game, it is optional and it is certainly not unskippable, since no cutscene in the first or second game is unskippable.

the racists were also upset at the inclusion of a traveling trader who is black, especially since the studio head previously said about KCD1 that there were no black characters in the first game because there were no black people living in Bohemia in the 1400s. he had to clarify that as well, that KCD2 is set in a major metropolitan area and overseas trade hub, and yes there were traveling traders who were black.

the KCD subreddit and the Steam forum both were horrendous hellscapes of racism and homophobia and neo-nazism when the controversy first broke. the reddit mods eventually got a handle on it and shut down the offensive off-topic bullshit, but the Steam forum is still a cesspool. a community manager posted a new Code of Conduct that specifically disallowed racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc., as well as any neo-nazi or white supremacist ideology, and of course these chuds immediately started whining about being "targeted" and claimed that the community manager, who they doxxed and figured out is an Asian woman, is a white male-hating woke DEI hire, and the CoC is bullshit and biased because it only bans white supremacist ideology and not black supremacist ideology or any other racial supremacist ideology. they don't or won't comprehend that there was no issue with any other racial supremacist ideology, it's just the white supremacists that were a problem.

it's truly fucking disgusting. I fucking hate that this is what the world is like now. i fucking hate that my online gamer discussion spaces have been invaded and trashed by these fucking ignorant, bigoted pieces of shit.
