I know most people here are pretty progressive, and that's great.

The problem with coming here though, is that I'll see topic titles like "Trump has started deporting Haitians" or "it's really dangerous to be trans". I won't be able to not research what's happening if I see that, and it'll make me spiral in a bad way. I don't want to live resenting my republican family members. I don't want to constantly feel like the government is an actively hostile enemy.

I don't take this decision lightly. CE has been my internet home for the better part of 20 years. It's been here to support me through depression and loneliness. It's been here to celebrate the good times when I got married and became a dad.

But due to Trump winning, I just can't do it anymore. I've cared and stressed about politics for years. But I can't anymore. Due to my mental struggles, I just can't watch this. I'm cutting myself off from social media, the news, current events in general as best I can.

I'll post in this topic for a bit, then I'm off. I wish everyone here all the best.

I'm gonna be honest. If Trump wins, I'm out. Not leaving the country, but I'm done with politics and current events. I'm done with any social media or news. I'm probably done with my right leaning family.

It's not that I don't care, but I don't think I can do it anymore.
