Speaker Johnson stated that even should the Senate come to some bipartisan deal on the shutdown, he will deny it a vote in the House and will only allow the House bill to go through. Then he sent the House on vacation through at least October 14th.

Aside from just further blowing up their attempts to stick the shutdown on the Dems by just taking ownership like that it also means that the House is still refusing to swear in the newly-elected Dem who happens to represent the decisive 218th vote on releasing the Epstein Files and it seems, at least for now, the Democrats have managed to grab hold of that message across the spectrum. AOC to Schumer, and even the official Dem Twitter account all hammering on it.
