I wouldn't go that far. Squall is still my second favorite VIII character after Laguna, who deserved better. However this just didn't look or feel like Squall's year. Any other contest I'd be glad for Squall > "Superstrong" Seifer, but this was kinda tragic.

i didn't say guaranteed I said betting favorite

always potential for swing, but like last year felt like an absolute slog to get there with ultimecia

year before same thing with selphie

and it's not like Squall went out way before either of them.

he's just always there which makes sense when you look at his STATS

Maybe. This is kind of Squall's new ceiling range because he won't be picking up much new support from here on out because of the anti-champ sentiment.

Basically if you can survive until top 15ish, you've got a 50/50 shot. Seifer just got unlucky this time.
