Just returned from a trip and now doggo has a little doggo sister.

(In case you're getting deja vu I did say something similar about a year-and-a-half-ish ago. Unfortunately, the older sis passed since then so the once little sis was an only doggo for the last year or so but has now graduated to onee-san doggo. It's only been a day, less than that really, but they were basically BFFs from first meeting one another.

It's good when you have multiple pets and they get along right away

We haven't attempted to bring a second pet into our house. Our dog does all right when our parents bring their pets over, but I'm not sure she'd like it if we had another pet here all the time.

Yeah, many, many years ago (Might be 20 or so) we had a dog (we've always had dogs, I think there is literally a single three day period in my entire life that wasn't the case) and we adopted a second - the first time we had two dogs, and first doggo was not pleased. It was really sad because the second dog was so sweet.

We were genuinely afraid we might have to return him but we took them to a dog training school to see if they had any ideas and they were able to get the two of them to get past their issues (well, mostly doggo #1's issues, really.) Eventually they also became pretty inseparable and when doggo #2 passed (stomach cancer out of fucking nowhere) doggo #1 was visibly depressed for quite a while afterwards.

So in that sense I've been lucky to have never run into a situation with two pets that was simply so bad it couldn't be worked through.

I said we haven't attempted to bring in another pet, but I forgot about a brief experiment we attempted. A lady from our church had to rehouse one of her dogs, and we volunteered to take him in to see if it would work. Our dog is small (she's some sort of papillon/pomeranian mix, we think), and her dog was a retriever.

Well, her dog tried to eat out of our dog's bowl, which caused our dog to bark at him, and he snapped at her. It was a pretty scary moment for me, but thankfully he didn't hurt her. After that, we kinda knew it wasn't gonna work.

Oh, I just noticed a handy QoL improvement in Daybreak. If an NPC has more to say, their "Chat" icon is blue, but if they don't, then it's yellow. That's pretty cool.

Trails Through Daybreak Chapter 1 beated!

So the Genesis has zombie powers, huh, or at least they can be manipulated to do that. It also looks like Ouroboros and Almata aren't on the best of terms for whatever the reason, but I'm sure we'll learn more as we go.

Feri's dad's letter to Van at the end was great. Also I like that there's an "Employee of the Month" bonus for your best performing teammate each chapter (won by Feri for me this time).

yeah I kinda like this stopping time in battle thing. It does actually feel like a hybrid of action and turn-based. They should always do this. Need to play a lot more battles to see how it goes because it's also kind hard to juggle all these buttons at first.

Finished the first Captives' War book and the accompanying novella. This is the new series by the guys who wrote The Expanse. It's a really interesting premise, so I'll be curious to see where they take the story from here. I imagine the stories from the main book and the novella will intersect at some point, too.

That was really fun, definitely the best of the three movies. Keanu Reeves was great as Shadow, and I think they gave adequate screentime and cool moments to all the characters.

I watched this on Sunday. First Sonic movie that was good! Nice to have it be such a quality increase from the other two.

This feels feels similar to the ending of Steins;Gate where most of the characters have some sort of residual memories of what happened but can't quite put it all together. It's nice everyone got a happy ending, too.

That went a lot better than I expected. It seems like Shide should have known that Ushio's flames couldn't burn herself since he should know how Shadow powers work. Regarding Shide's secret identity. Who can it even be other than Karikiri? Hizuru stepped on his shadow way back when, but that isn't actually hard evidence. I'm also sort of thinking Haine didn't kill Ryuunosuke since she says she didn't and we didn't see her do it. But, I'm not really sure what to do with that information.

I feel like FF7R is starting to click with me. There are a lot of buttons to juggle and it felt clunky as an action game at first, but I'm starting to see the vision. Pausing the game to give orders a lot really makes it feel like the way I played DA:O. Which is probably the hybrid action/turn based style I've always felt would suit modern FF.

Three and Nine is probably my favorite of the in-game books from the Trails series.

But if you just don't like bothering with any of them then yeah Leon's summary is basically it.
I didn't do guru this year but azuarc can be in my sig anyways.

i've been really struggling to get hooked on Rebirth. Chapter 1, the extended Kalm flashback feels like it takes away from the story rather than adds. Portraying Sephiroth as a genuinely great commander makes his fall feel way too sudden. There were some really nice touches, like when Cloud merged with the grunt on the ground, but also -- just like with Remake -- there's so much padding. Having to injured-drag myself the long way around was incredibly egregious.

And then there's Tifa saying she doesn't remember us coming to Kalm at all, which is -- huh? I'd always thought that she was aware the grunt was Cloud, but it's been a long time since I played the original FF7 and maybe I'm just wrong.

...I think maybe I just need to keep playing till i get more party members. I remember it wasn't until I got Tifa in my party that I really started to enjoy Remake. idk.

We might be taking a trip up to Boston in a couple months to visit a specialist for our daughter. We'd only be there for a couple days and we obviously wouldn't have a ton of free time, but we've never been there before.

Anyone who's been there before, any recommendations for places to visit, places to eat, etc.?

That went well. Sort of. What happened to Hizuru's request to free Haine from Shide? This plan seemed to have intent to kill. I'm not sure what to make of the third Shide but the group never really found out how his extra bodies worked so I guess it can happen.
