14. Kidnap the Sandy Claws (The Nightmare Before Christmas):

Nominated by darkx (2/7 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4Le5yN2tko

A group of Halloween Town's little rugrats sing about various horrible things they want to do to Santa, most of which if they were actually depicted would make this not a kids' movie anymore.
This is a strange musical number even by the standards of NBC, and even though there are so many weird sections where the kids are basically just talking rapidfire in their little cartoon voices, it somehow works for reasons I can't explain, and I also like it for reasons I can't explain.

The kids were the worst part of this movie and this song is no exception. I'm kind of upset it's even in the top 20 but I guess everyone gets to have their weird picks.

  2. What's This?
  3. ...Finale, I guess...

I assumed you were talking about Surface Pressure since that was the song that got ranked.

Though I guess if I was thinking of the most pushed song it would be "Bruno".
You would think it would be Bruno. But Dos Oruguitas is stuffed in everywhere by Disney. They put it in basically every new Disney park nighttime show. It is maddening how highly they think of it.
13. All of You (Encanto):

Nominated by Raka_Putra (2/7 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrMxx8EV4JU

What can I say, this is the ending song to Encanto, putting a cap on an incredible soundtrack with callbacks to nearly every other song in the movie as the whole village gathers around to rebuild the destroyed Madrigal mansion.
Given how much I like this soundtrack it is a bit disappointing that nobody nominated any of the three songs that would have easily made the top 5, but hey I still like this one a lot!

What Else Can I Do might well have been one of my noms if I had more.

I love Encanto's soundtrack, but well I expected other people would or might nominate other songs from it. I like how All of You ties everything together.
God has heard my soul.
12. Once Upon a December (Anastasia):

Nominated by GavsEvans (0/7 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gZrYyi-XRQ

Anastasia will always be nothing more to me than a scuffed Disney Renaissance wannabe, but man this song is incredible.
It is so hauntingly beautiful and is the highlight of the film, sort of Disney-ish but still different enough to be its own thing. Though just like the movie itself, it feels like it just needs just a little bit more to become something really special.

Congrats to azuarc on being really good at predicting stuff
11. Reflection (Mulan):

Nominated by Maniac64 (1/3 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f5fMVKTyuQ

This is one of the better 'I wish' songs from Disney, and just as you might expect, there is a lot of looking into water involved. So in it Mulan solemnly peers at her reflection, earnestly pleading that she can be more of a tomboy and that the world wouldn't be so sexist (spoilers: both wishes come true).
It's very beautiful, and I like it even though the 'hopes and dreams' template is kinda overdone in Disney movies.

This went a LOT further than I expected.

I think Nightmare has three tiers of songs:

This is Halloween/Kidnap the Sandy Claws/Oogie Boogie's Song/What's This

Jack's Lament/Sally's Song

The Town Meeting Song/Jack's Obsession/Poor Jack/Making Christmas

And when people were talking about an Encanto song that Disney pushes everywhere I thought for sure they meant We Don't Talk About Bruno. IMO the worst song in that movie is Bruno's lack of a solo song. Even though he gets a song about him, he deserved more singing time himself.

So the ponies find this crazy hermit who tells them her whole life story... though song, of course, what else?
It a cute little number but some of the lyrics seem a bit... unhinged, though I guess that is fitting given the mental instability of the character.
Much of the song is sweet but just all right, but then good god that chorus kicks in and then wow. What is it with these pony songs and their choruses, seriously.
It has much better vocals than what is standard for the show, and I think that is what really elevates it into something beyond what it would usually be.

9. Poison (Hazbin Hotel):

Nominated by Sliver_Ermine (1/7 remaining)

This song is generally not something I would like, either stylistically or thematically, but man just how is this so good?
Just as I mentioned in the Helluva Boss song writeup, this takes someone that was just generally known as a joke and made them into a real character. You can just hear the pain in this spider boi's voice as we go over his abusive relationship that he literally cannot get out of due to his lover owning his fucking soul. That ending, holy shit.
Can you believe this is only the third best song in a show that at this point in time only has one season of 8 episodes to draw from? I can. Season 2 when?

8. Gaston (Beauty and the Beast):

Nominated by darkx (1/7 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30PVdigjbFY

No one's... slick as Gaston, such a prick as as Gaston, no one has such a gigantic... ...okay lets stop there.
Now, contrary to what some people may think this not actually Gaston's villain song, I mean the whole number is just everyone praising his incredible feats. There is zero real villainy here (other than the line about biting people while wrestling), rather just general dickishness. Mob Song is his true villain song where he does like actual evil things.
It is very fun and silly, not the best in the movie by a long shot, but certainly very memorable.

I fell just short of the top 10, but looking at the remaining songs, that was the right decision. Once Upon a December and Deliver Us were my serious noms I was aiming for deep runs with, the rest were there because I thought it would be funny or interesting to have them in. Pirate's Scorn and especially The Lord Loves a Hanging lasted longer than I expected. I was bracing for the latter to go in the bottom 10, especially after you said you didn't care for Nickelodeon.

7. True Love's Kiss (Enchanted):

Nominated by Raka_Putra (1/7 remaining)

This is probably he greatest sendup of the Disney musical style ever created, surprisingly done by Disney themselves!
Here, Princess Giselle is building what is totally not a fantasy world sex doll with the help of her requisite army of critters in a sweet song that is both beautiful and hilarious. 'lips are the only things that touch', hahaha.
If it only had a few more lines instead of just repeating it would be even higher, but still this is very very awesome.

This is such a great opening song too. It really understands the classic Disney Princess but twists it just enough to know that it's not taking itself too seriously.

6. Winter Wrap Up (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic):

Nominated by redrocket (0/7 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEFJ8Bu66jg

The first full on musical number from FiM sees the ponies celebrating a sort of spring ritual, which involves a lot of choreographed verse and dancing bunnies.
There's just so much infectious joy here that it is just about impossible to hate, and it still makes me feel all warn inside just like it did the first time, all those years ago.
It is a representation of everything wonderful about the show and is probably the most recognizable pony song, for good reason!

I think my favorite moment from that number is Rainbows trollface at 1:56. Its just precious.

Angel and Husk, two characters that up to this point hated each other (like a lot), perform a duet about about just how messed up their respective lives are. Yeah they are not really the best singers from the show's cast, but given the whole point of the song that really doesn't seem like a very big deal.
Something about this just really resonates with me, and it is probably my favorite song in Hazbin (thus far), and it manages to claim the top spot out of the myriad of TV show noms.
There are other really good songs from this! That weren't even nominated! What are you waiting for go watch this show right now!

4. I Won't Say I'm in Love (Hercules):

Nominated by Maniac64 (0/3 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPMjsfJwUow

The song where Megara deals with her conflicted feelings regarding the movie's titular big dumb oaf.
It is very different then the classic Disney love song, but then again the whole soundtrack felt that way except for Go the Distance because lol.
Hercules is a movie that my opinion changed on greatly since I was younger (I used to despise it), and while I will by no means elevate it anywhere near the top I have since gained a great deal of love for this one song.

I've always thought Hercules was just barely above mid-tier Disney and easily one of the weakest Renaissance films but IWSIIL is a top 10 Disney song.

3. Part of Your World (The Little Mermaid):

Nominated by Jesse_Custer (0/5 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXKlJuO07eM

This is the first modern 'wishing' princess song where Ariel sings of a yearning for the human world with such earnest innocence that it is hard not to be captivated.
There are a few awkward lines here and there, but it is not enough to sink what is possibly the greatest singing performance in an animated movie ever. It is one thing to have a stellar voice, but to put so much personality and heart into this performance is not something you see every day.
For all those Ariel haters out there (you know who you are), this song is why we love the character. No part of the movie more perfectly captures who she is and how she feels, pulling the audience in to become part of her world.

Hercules will never be among my favorite Disney movies but I have gained a lot more love for Megara and that song as I got older.

Under the Sea vs. Belle, what a great finale.

2. Belle (Beauty and the Beast):

Nominated by Raka_Putra (0/7 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTUZswZHsWQ

This opening number of one of Disney's most iconic movies introduces the protagonist Belle though the eyes of all the other villagers as they sing about what an odd and funny girl she is. This, despite Belle being one of the most normie out of all the modern princesses. Oh female literacy, you so cray-cray.
Anyway, this is easily one of the most memorable songs of the Disney Renaissance, and probably my second favorite of the movie itself.

1. Under the Sea (The Little Mermaid):

Nominated by darkx (0/7 remaining)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC_mV1IpjWA

The crown jewel of TLM's astounding soundtrack, which is bursting with a vibrant joy and fun the likes of which we had really never seen before in a Disney movie.
If PoYW is like Ariel's personal song, then this one is certainly Sebastian's. It's colorful, cool, and it just makes you feel happy, mon!
It is everything you could hope for in a musical number, catchy music, wonderful vibe, so many awesome things going on. What more is you looking for?
https://i.imgtc.com/a6iBg1Y.jpg
Congrats to azuarc on being really good at predicting stuff
Right on!

Under the Sea is my absolute favorite Disney song and has been since I was a kid. That being said, I couldn't have been upset if Belle had been what beat it out - that's easily one of the all-time greatest opening numbers, if not THE greatest.
