I've done this style of poll contest once before, back in either Gen VII or Gen VIII, so why not try it again now? The rules are simple: each day, I'm going to post a poll for a given Pokemon typing, with each generation's roster of new Pokemon filling in that typing. You just need to look at what each generation had to offer, and select which generation you think brought the best new roster (for any reason; you could say that a single Pokemon was so good that it overwhelms everything else the generation spawned, or you could select a generation that may be more well-rounded that the one that created your personal favorite). At the end of the day, one generation will be crowned a champion (with potential tiebreakers if need be), and that generation will advance to a second round, where the eighteen winners, and fourteen strongest runner-ups will be sorted into a 32-entrant tournament to crown which generation produced the best overall roster of a single typing.
The tournament has now begun. The discussion topic is here: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/80744044 and the bracket is here: https://www.bracketmaker.com/tlist.cfm?tid=478370
We've reached the elite four with half the bracket from Gen I and half the bracket from Gen III. Both of our Elite Four match-ups will pit Gen I against Gen III, so it's entirely possible for one generation to run the table and guarantee a winner. But for now, we kick things off with overall one-seed Gen I Fire. To get this far, it had to defeat a pair of Gen IV rosters in wild card Ghost and low-seeded Fighting, and then took down the surprising member of the final 8 in Gen VI Dragon. It's key to point out, however, Gen I Fire has yet to face one of this tournament's big three yet: Gens 1, 3, and 5. Its first time facing a potential titan comes this round, with Gen III Grass. As the overall five-seed, Gen III Grass has shattered mnk's hopes and dreams by wiping out three Gen V rosters in a row and helping escort Unova from the tournament. But still, it hasn't faced Gen I yet, and Grass is at a type disadvantage against Fire. Who's going to come out on top and claim the first spot in our finals today? Let's find out.
