Something I had been thinking about recently was that nearly every single Pokemon from RBY has gotten a new evolution, or baby form, or gimmick form, or regional variant, or whatever. Turns out there's still a somewhat noteworthy amount that have never gotten anything, and so I switched to thinking "Which one of these families should be the next to get a new form in the next Pokemon games?" I made a list of them and wanted other people's thoughts:

Gen 1 Pokemon that have not gotten a new variation yet:

Nidoqueen
Nidoking
Parasect
Venomoth
Golduck

Some of these probably don't count, like Ditto or the Fossil Pokemon (although Aerodactyl got one...). I'm kind of surprised the Psyduck family never got anything considering how popular it is. Or Dragonite, since it's the "pseudo-legendary" of its generation. Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross, and Garchomp all got Megas and it didn't?

Would love for Dragonite to have an alternate final evolution that looks more like the first 2 forms.

Of these I think Dewgong is probably the one most in need of something to give it relevance

would love to see revisits on most of these provided they're new evos (or megas)

and a parasect new form could save it from its crippling flaws so that would be nice too. not sure i'd be happy about any other ones getting one though. maybe ditto? an alt form "dragonite" to just be more consistent with dratini/dragonair's designs would be an ideal scenario to me and it'll never in a million years happen

I feel like based solely on design, Dewgong needs it the most. It is so boring ... I'm sorry.

Based on popularity and legacy, Dragonite feels like a no brainer. And I think it would be interesting to take advantage of how it looks so different from its pre evolutions.

Parasect would also be interesting for reasons UF8 and Andy have said. I think this would be my top personal pick for a Pokemon to get extra attention.

Lapras

I am sorry but I don't think Gigantamax should count
It's a gimmick that lasted only one generation and offers nothing gameplay-wise besides a signature move
As far as I remember Gigantamax Lapras wasn't even used by any trainer so you could play the whole game to completion and not even realize that Lapras as a Gmax form
Totally forgettable in every way

This is true in Sword. In Shield the sixth gym leader's ace is a Gmax Lapras.

Still mad that Flygon isn't that!

Anyways, I immediately thought Lapras and Dragonite cause yeah, gigantimax doesn't count and for whatever reason Dragonite got no mega or alternate form. Although I do like Paras conquering the parasite more and more.

Flygon being Bug/Dragon is one of those obvious things that you really don't get how they missed it.

Dittos a hard one. The original ditto is basically perfect as is, so Id imagine it would have to be a regional form.

maybe it transforms and copies all the stats (including HP) but halves its speed? So its a trick room ditto of sorts (that can hold a non-choice scarf item finally)

or maybe since they removed mirror move it keeps dittos (shitty) stats but it can use +1 priority mirror move as its only move? Or a new version of mirror move that uses the move the target selected this turn? Something like instead of perfecting transformation by copying Pokmon it perfected copying Pokmon moves instead

A new form for Golduck would be cool. Maybe they could lean even more heavily into an alleged association with kappa, or go and give it an extra psychic typing.

Still a fun thought exercise, though.

My vote would be for Cloyster, and have some Pokedex shenanigans occur between it and the Slowkings/Slowbros but also Clamperl (and its evolutions) to prove that Pokemon marine biologists are roughly as terrible as Cara Liss.
