Rules: If you list more than 4 things I'm gonna just tally the first 4 you say. If you list the same character multiple times it won't count. Be nice. Don't shove your personal definition of "Mount Rushmore" down others' throats. Have fun. If you're going to majorly change a vote please quote your old vote to make it easier for me.

-----------------

Adventure-specific-rules: I'm not going to limit this to point-and-clicks like Myst and Day of the Tentacle. The Telltale games and their many knockoffs are also adventure games. Same with David Cage's bullshit. I'm going to be pretty lenient on what counts here but basically:

If there's a persistent cursor, puzzles, and inventory management, then it counts for this one. There should NOT be a combat focus at all. Combat should be a tertiary thing in these games, if it appears at all. If there is combat, it's more of a puzzle or a QTE. There should not be major shifts from the core gameplay of clicking on shit.

Older text-based stuff like Zork that predates mouse cursors are fine as well.

Write a scenario in which Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth discuss what would be on the Mount Rushmore of adventure games.

ChatGPT
Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth sat across from each other in the Wright & Co. Law Offices, taking a break from their usual courtroom battles to engage in a different kind of debate.

Phoenix leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the desk thoughtfully. "So, Edgeworth, if we were to create a Mount Rushmore for adventure games, who would you say deserves a spot?"

Edgeworth adjusted his cravat before responding, "Well, Phoenix, it's certainly a challenging task, but I believe classics like 'Monkey Island' and 'The Legend of Zelda' should undoubtedly grace such a monument. Their contributions to the genre are unparalleled."

Phoenix nodded in agreement. "Absolutely, those are iconic choices. But what about 'Grim Fandango'? It revolutionized storytelling in adventure games with its film noir-inspired narrative."

Edgeworth nodded thoughtfully. "A valid point, Wright. 'Grim Fandango' certainly left an indelible mark on the genre. And I would argue that 'The Secret of Monkey Island' stands as a timeless example of witty writing and inventive puzzles."

Phoenix chuckled, "Ah, the adventures of Guybrush Threepwood never fail to entertain. But what about 'The Longest Journey'? Its rich world-building and compelling storyline make it a contender, don't you think?"

Edgeworth considered this for a moment. "Indeed, 'The Longest Journey' is renowned for its immersive narrative. However, we cannot overlook the impact of 'King's Quest.' It laid the groundwork for the adventure game genre and inspired countless others."

Phoenix nodded, acknowledging the significance of 'King's Quest.' "You make a compelling argument, Edgeworth. So, we have 'Monkey Island,' 'The Legend of Zelda,' 'Grim Fandango,' and 'King's Quest.' A formidable lineup for our Mount Rushmore of adventure games."

Edgeworth smiled faintly, a rare expression of agreement. "Indeed, Wright. These games have shaped the landscape of adventure gaming for generations to come. A fitting tribute, wouldn't you say?"

Phoenix grinned back. "Absolutely, Edgeworth. Now, shall we return to our respective cases, or do you have another pressing matter to debate?"

And with that, the dynamic duo returned to their legal duties, their discussion on the Mount Rushmore of adventure games providing a welcome diversion from the courtroom drama.

Am I bring lame by going with four LucasArts games? Maybe, but whatever. Maniac Mansion and at least one of the first two Monkey Island games are inarguable, in my opinion. Im putting Full Throttle in as well for having such an amazing settig and atmosphere. You really get the sense that a short series could be made out of it.

Unpopular opinion: Grim Fandango is probably my least favorite of the LucasArts point-and-clicks.

Honorable mentions from LucasArts include Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max Hit the Road.

I think I give the nod to Myst over Riven due to its impact, even though I think you'd be hard-pressed to argue Myst is the better game. Though at the same time, Riven is so much better it's ridiculous. Monkey Island over Maniac Mansion feels wrong somehow, but eh. Something from the Telltale renaissance has to make it in, and then I'll give the fourth slot to Riven out of blatant favoritism. It should probably be Zork though.

Write a scenario in which Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth discuss who would win in a fight between Ms. Frizzle, Professor X, Edna Krabappel, Mr. Feeny, Mr. Miyagi, John Keating, Severus Snape, Master Roshi, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Walter White.

ChatGPT
Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth found themselves in a heated debate over who would reign supreme in an epic battle royale among iconic educators and mentors.

Phoenix: "Alright, Edgeworth, let's settle this once and for all. Who do you think would win in a fight among Ms. Frizzle, Professor X, Edna Krabappel, Mr. Feeny, Mr. Miyagi, John Keating, Severus Snape, Master Roshi, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Walter White?"

Edgeworth pondered for a moment, tapping his finger against his chin. "Hmm, it's a tough call, Phoenix. But if we're considering strategy and resourcefulness, I'd have to go with Walter White. He's proven himself to be quite adept at getting out of tight situations."

Phoenix raised an eyebrow. "Interesting choice, Edgeworth. But what about the others? Surely someone like Obi-Wan Kenobi with his Jedi powers or Severus Snape with his cunning could give him a run for his money?"

Edgeworth nodded thoughtfully. "True, but Walter White's willingness to do whatever it takes to win might give him the edge. However, Severus Snape's mastery of dark arts and potions could pose a significant threat."

Phoenix chuckled. "I suppose we'll never know for sure unless someone decides to write a crossover fanfiction about it."

Edgeworth smirked. "Indeed, Phoenix. But until then, let's just agree to disagree on this matter."

The two lawyers continued their debate, each making compelling arguments for their chosen contenders as they enjoyed their friendly banter.

Title: The Great Debate: Ace Attorney's Mount Rushmore Status

Characters:

Phoenix Wright
Miles Edgeworth
Maya Fey
Apollo Justice
Franziska von Karma
Setting:
A courtroom-like stage with four podiums representing Mount Rushmore, with the faces of iconic visual novels and adventure games carved into them. A moderator oversees the debate.

[The Debate Begins]

Moderator: Welcome, esteemed attorneys and esteemed prosecutor, to the Great Debate. Today's topic: why Ace Attorney deserves a spot on both the Mount Rushmore of visual novels and the Mount Rushmore of adventure games. We'll start with Phoenix Wright.

Phoenix Wright: Thank you, Your Honor. Ace Attorney isn't just a visual novel; it's an experience that blends storytelling, puzzle-solving, and courtroom drama unlike any other. It's a pioneer in the genre, setting the standard for interactive storytelling.

Moderator: A strong opening statement. Now, Miles Edgeworth, your rebuttal?

Miles Edgeworth: While Ace Attorney certainly has its merits, it's not solely responsible for shaping the visual novel landscape. Other titles like Danganronpa and Zero Escape have also left their mark. However, Ace Attorney's innovative gameplay and memorable characters undeniably make it a contender.

Moderator: Maya Fey, your thoughts?

Maya Fey: As the spirit medium of Kurain Village, I've seen firsthand how Ace Attorney connects with players emotionally. The bonds forged with characters like Phoenix and Apollo are unparalleled. Plus, the series isn't afraid to tackle complex themes like corruption and justice.

Moderator: Apollo Justice, do you agree?

Apollo Justice: Absolutely. Ace Attorney isn't just about solving cases; it's about uncovering the truth. The thrill of cross-examining witnesses and finding contradictions keeps players engaged from start to finish.

Moderator: And finally, Franziska von Karma, your perspective?

Franziska von Karma: Ace Attorney may have its moments, but it lacks the depth and complexity of true adventure games like Monkey Island or Grim Fandango. Its reliance on linear storytelling limits player agency and replayability.

Moderator: A compelling argument from both sides. Now, each of you has one minute for your closing statements.

[Closing Statements]

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney has stood the test of time, captivating players with its gripping narratives and engaging gameplay. Its influence on the visual novel genre is undeniable, making it a worthy contender for Mount Rushmore.

Miles Edgeworth: While Ace Attorney has made significant contributions, it's important to recognize the diverse landscape of visual novels and adventure games. However, its impact on interactive storytelling cannot be ignored.

Maya Fey: Ace Attorney isn't just a game; it's an experience that resonates with players on a deep, emotional level. Its iconic characters and thought-provoking themes deserve recognition on Mount Rushmore.

Apollo Justice: The courtroom drama of Ace Attorney sets it apart from other games in the genre. Its blend of storytelling and puzzle-solving makes it a standout title worthy of being immortalized on Mount Rushmore.

Franziska von Karma: While Ace Attorney has its strengths, it falls short of the complexity and innovation seen in other adventure games. Its place on Mount Rushmore should be considered carefully, taking into account the broader scope of the genre.

Moderator: Thank you to our esteemed panelists for a lively debate. Now, it's up to our audience to decide: does Ace Attorney deserve a spot on both the Mount Rushmore of visual novels and adventure games?
