Ermine are you using Gigina? I am using Gigina and he seems like an Ermine character.

Also I now know that the Focusing Armband is probably not worth using. It increases the RNG range of how much an attack can damage, but it does so in both directions... so at the end of the day it presumably averages out to be the same exact damage as not wearing it.
Change is weird.
I LOVE Gigina!

I love the way he bounces around in battle lol

I was pleased to see he has a Hero Combo with Garr, but then I realized single target combos are terrible and maybe bugged because they're just worse than doing normal attacks.

Yup!

Looks cool though!

As the actual biggest suikoden fan on the board, it's based exactly on Suikoden. It's made by the people who made suikoden after all. It basically is suikoden in all but name.

My husband and I ordered the physical switch version (yeah, wish we could play it but it was the one version that got delayed)

and I thought I was the biggest suikoden fan here.

Don't mess with a Bunny!
I've been playing this on Game Pass. Never played a Suikoden game, but always wanted to give it a try.

I'm a few hours in (just cleared the mine level), and it's...interesting so far. There's some things I like, but I'm not sure how much I'm actually enjoying myself. I think I'll give it a few more hours to see if it'll grow on me once things start opening up a bit.

Also, when's the soonest I can kick Lian out of my party? I'm already so sick of her lmao
It's not so impossible!

It's spose to start slow from what I saw in reviews

Against all the advice I read online, I decided to persevere with Beigoma as soon as it was unlocked. I got all the available monster drops so far, and after much trial and error, I beat the first few people in the quest line and recruited the old dude . Then I stomped Reid in the rematch 3-0 on the first try . It seems the biggest trick is to try to time your boosts with your opponent's so you can beat them in mash battles.

It's funny that these Saturday morning cartoon segments are like the most emotion Nowa has shown so far.

lol nice Schtolteheim Reinbach III reference

I'm still early in the game (I don't get a lot of time with my PS5). Just spoil me now, when does everything in the starting area go to shit as is wont to happen in JRPGs? This mine is tedious.

Like after the very next mission once you're done with the mine.

Proving Grounds cleared. That wasn't as bad as I was expecting from people's complaints. Too much back and forth for all the chests (made worse by me not remembering to check the flower transports in the main passageway until the end), but the puzzles weren't hard to figure out and the map helped with figuring out the pathways. At least the treasures at the end of all the backtracking seem worth it. Finally a skill rune for Kuroto! The boss fights were tough, and the first time I had to bust out magic all game.

Konami needs to sell the rights to Suikoden to this team and just let them make the last suikoden game. I NEED CLOSURE ON THE 27 TRUE RUNES OKAY? ALSO JEANE AND VIKI. I mean what are they going to do with Suikoden? Make a Pachinko game?

don't worry, konami will release the ports and announce suikoden vi right after

real talk though this is it. I mean the director co-creator died so...
while you slept, the world changed
At least update Suikoden V after Suikoden 1 + 2. I mean that's not coming until 2027 anyway!

Euchrisse area beated. Interesting that they're doing a dual plotline thing now for however long this lasts. For being billed as three protagonists since the very beginning of the Kickstarter, Seign and especially Marisa have been pretty absent.

Hmmmmmm, how much time will I put into eggfoot races...

amazon still actually hasn't sent me this. I preordered the PS5 version in March and I got an email two weeks ago saying it wouldn't arrive until May 7th. who knows if I'll ever get to play not-suikoden

Waiting on a switch patch before I actually play this
Oh boy, cooking contest character recruited.

After about 6 hours I feel like this game isn't going to be able to hold my attention. I know that the beginning is slow but this combat feels pretty bad and I kinda doubt it gets much better.

Everything in this game from menuing to attacking to whatever just feels like it's a half second too slow. Maybe I wouldn't be annoyed if everything didn't feel so sluggish and slow but it's really bugging me.

Also in the first areas after you get your hideout there are these soldiers that are blocking your path. But if you get into a random battle standing near them then the zones overlap or something so you end up fighting enemies that are like 10+ levels higher than you. I won the first one and everyone in my party went up 4-5 levels. So I did a few more and now I have this group that is level 30 and everyone else is level 16-17.

That one is my own fault but I'm sure the next 10 hours would be a complete slog being so overleveled.

Also holy shit that army battle was so slow and boring.

Can anyone confirm/deny if the game gets significantly better or is the first 6 hours a good barometer? I'm playing on Gamepass so I can just go play the Crab Soulslike if this is it.
skull
I think I like what I've played so far (only like 5 hours), but man, everything feels like it takes twice as long as it should. random battles, dungeons, bosses -- especially bosses. I just did that mine dungeon that took like, I don't know, two hours? the lack of music reminds me of Xenosaga 1 and that's not great. but, I think I like it so far despite that
xyzzy
I'm still chugging along. I'm at like 92 characters recruited, and today I upgraded the town to rank 3, finished the main beigoma quest line, built the theatre (the audience was not enraptured by a Gigina Juliet), and reunited the Rising trio . :3
