No clue why they seemed to have the safer sephiroth fight this early though

that was Bizarro, Safer is still on deck for part 3
One thing I forgot is that monster dude with a copy of his own face as his body is the absolute peak of FF enemy design and we need more of it

Oh duh, thank you it's been too long

I finished level 50. Would you grind before hard mode or is that unnecessary?

I'd get to 70 while maxing some materia. It really doesn't take too long - post-game the Musclehead Coliseum fights give you enough XP to get to 70 in a couple of hours. Hard mode isn't that hard in itself, but some of the sidequest fights (e.g. the Mandrakes, White Terror) can be a bit ridiculous, and you might well want to do them to unlock more manuscripts.

Ive finally made it to Chapter 10

You can get to LV70 in less than one quest if you reset sidequest progress and go do the cat quest in Nibelheim. The bees give a ton of experience and if you don't kill the queen bee they keep coming. Took less than ten minutes for me, then you can chapter select again and restore quest progress to revert back to however many you had completed before.
Ah that's a good trick. Missed that.

I'm back from vacation.

I'm about to head up to get the key card in Nibel but I also have all the side shit to do in Cosmo and Gongaga so gonna do that first before progressing

Cool, thanks!

There's apparently a single side quest I did not perfectly execute.

if you go through your quests (pull up the map and then hit... L2 twice I think?) you'll be able to see which wasn't perfectly executed, I think the quest is shaded in a different colour or doesn't have three stars with it or something like that.

Possibilities of quests you didn't perfectly execute (these are the three that immediately come to mind for me):
-You can't let Salmon take any damage in that Junon escort quest
-Can't fail picking mushrooms
-Wrong meat for the condor

Had to retry battles more than once to achieve that first one which I'm banking on also being yours.
You're not gonna believe this but turns out it's the one where you take ppictures of Red in Gongaga.

Well, that should at least be easy enough.

New patch is out that fixes the sidequest you couldn't complete.

Cait Sith section stopped the momentum of the game stone dead, bad shit
Then that fucking yin/yang thing

Then 10m later, Roche. "Yay"

Vincent fight was fun tho

Cait Sith section I hated it first time through. But it helps a lot if you understand, while riding the moogle, mash square for magic attacks, hold square for physical. Also while riding the moogle, he dodges by just moving the stick, instead of using circle (which is more of a desperate get away from the moogle dodge)
Congrats to azuarc for winning GOTD2

Yeah I started getting the hang of it, but Jesus

And then following it up with Roche when my patience was already at its limit was fucking asinine. I shut off the ps5 as soon as he came out of the helicopter

smh not liking Roche in Rebirth
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
Roche is great the haters must suffer
Congrats Black Turtle !
Roche haters are weak.

His fight was better than Vincent's tbqh.
I like him to a point but he's a fucking lot and I was already pissed at the Cait Sith section

Shadowblood Queen fucking massacred me

I enjoy Red going back into old man mode when telling the story about pirate ships. He's so great in this game <3

Haha I can't get the Collector's Card for Yuffie because my relationship with her isn't deep enough, AND I'VE NEVER BEEN PROUDER

Nothing to be proud off.

I think that card you win from Vincent is extremely effective against the queen.

Hell yeah. As someone who enjoys both of the voices Max does for Red, this scene was just overall excellent. Really got me into the mood.

Shadowblood Queen QB match was amazing. It was legit difficult after a bunch of really easy matches. It required you to use your cheesiest strat, and even then you have to get lucky. And the narrative design of the cards was perfect.

I got it second try but I definitely think I got lucky. My deck was NOT good against hers but everything just seemed to work out :)

Wrapping up world intel in Cosmo Canyon. Still have two more Gear and Gambits fights to do, but so far that mini game is fine. What is NOT fine, is the controls of Glide De Chocobo. That might be the first thing I've genuinely not liked at all in this game. I'm so glad that in order to traverse the open world of Cosmo Canyon you don't really have to engage with those controls, because that would be torture.

I tried Gears and Gambits last night and it annoyed me so I quit

I'll try again when I'm in a better mood

Didn't they patch in whatever it was people couldn't figure out about this controls?

Meanwhile I can tell there is no way in hell I am gonna go do those chocobo racing sidequests regardless of rewards or progress

I don't want to hit the PoNR until I've done everything, but jesus did I get downhearted once I got off the boat and was told there were loads of newquests. I've done all the intel everywhere except Cosmo Canyon (a couple more to mop up + the protorelic) so I guess it's just doing the new stuff, but man.

The chocobo racing was one of my favorite parts of the game, I really enjoyed it. I felt like they nailed the difficulty of the last few races--challenging but doable, and not too random like mario kart single player.

cactaur doors arent even that bad man
Congrats Black Turtle !
They literally close every single time I'm about to enter, and if the timing is juuuuust right (it always is) all sets of doors will be closed for like half a second, the exact time I'm trying to go through them. It's really fucking annoying.

theyre on a set timer just watch when they close from afar and you can always know where to go
Congrats Black Turtle !
Any Chocobos that can outright skip the Cactuar Doors by jumping over them or something like that?

That's how I navigated through some of the more difficult races I couldn't deal with, just floated and cut through or hovered over stuff.
It's your shooting star, your diamond in the rough! Idol VTuber Hoshimachi Suisei! Sui-chan is~ also cute today~!!
I think I saw a streamer race with one that had a jump as their special move, forget which (maybe the green/Gongaga one?), but I only ever raced with the original chocobo and I also cursed the cactuar doors. Failed on the timing way too much.

I have a memory of the first patch notes saying it was making G&G harder. glad to have finished it before then...
Yeah the cactuar doors are definitely the hardest thing about chocobo racing. I forgive them because they're a hilarious concept.

You literally cannot do this sometimes when they are just around a corner.

Yes if they are far in the distance and you have 10 seconds to figure out the timing, yes, I wont get hit like a dummy.

But when you round a corner and the doors are just open and youll be at them within 1 sec, you have no way of knowing if theyll be closing right away or if you have time to just run right through.

with cactuar doors, on normal chocobo racing is so easy that the first round can be spent just marking where the doors are to be ready for them. I was frequently in like 8th at the end of the first round and still able to be in first for the ending. it's really not that bad.
