Any time I've heard someone say it they pronounce it similar to the name Aaron, or Arr-one. But shouldn't it sound like iron only with an A sound?

So Ay-orn is its official pronunciation I believe.

I pronounce it like the name Aaron, especially because I know someone named Aron who pronounces their name that way.

I've never heard iron pronounced like that, it's always been eye-orn where I'm from. Or eye-yern I guess is more phonetically correct.

So Ay-yern then.

Are you sure it's not people truncating the last syllable to "ir'n" much in the same way some do with "mount'n"

Eye-urn or eye-yern are more recognizable to me. I was just put off by the "orn" part - perhaps I read it as more of a round o than you intended?

I believe so yeah, that was my mistake. Shoulda gone with "urn" in my first post
