How is SMRGP for Switch?

Also What are the key differences from the SNES version?
Ahem
It's really easy and it took me like 10 hours to beat I think.

I didn't play the SNES version but main differences are that it's easier because your melee attacks can splash to other enemies if you time them right and they added triple team super attacks.

There's new post game stuff too compared to SNES version.

As someone who never played the SNES version it was fine. Definitely felt like I was playing a game from the 90s for better or worse.

Worth $60? Thats a Short game.
I got it for $50 from a preorder deal and honestly I'd say no unless you really love the game already or you replay games.

There are just better JRPGs to play in 2023 that will last you longer for cheaper.

Not that everything is time played vs price but 10 hours is too short for a full price game to me personally

10 hours feels too short unless you're just straight up blitzing the plotline.
So a planet's somewhere out there, their history the same as ours is written. The only difference is that... Everyone's a kitten!
10 hours is definitely way too short. I'd say its more 20ish hours before getting to the couple of postgame stuffs to do.

Is the bestiary missable? Missed one part of one boss.

Nothing is missable in the remake.
The reason why you couldn't see my Signature before is because it was Invisible
I don't think it's easier than the SNES version. There are special enemies in random encounters that have much higher stats, and then there's all the postgame stuff. Keep in mind that the SNES version was pretty easy in the first place. Nintendo charging $60 for stuff like this is always bad for the value proposition, but that's how it is.

Oh I'm never spending $60 on this, it's just that even by the original's standards this isn't a 10 hour game unless you're rushing everything.

I decided to double check and oops yeah sorry everyone my final playtime after rolling credits wasn't 10 hours.

It was 8:33

I don't really feel like I rushed but I don't know what I could have done to get another 8-12 hours out of this game like other people said.

I know the post game stuff would add a few more hours and I didn't bother with that. I do play games quickly but I also did plenty of exploring in new areas.

Yeah I can't imagine the game taking more than like 12 hours max unless you REALLY REALLY go slow.

i'm probably looking over 20 hours myself but tbf that's with like 5 hours solely spent on 100 jumps (one day I'll get back and finish but I swapped carts out for Fashion Dreamer atm)

Play Paper Mario on NSO instead or wait for the TTYD remake
Welcome to your Divinity.
I got 28 hours getting full 100%

A few of those hours were probably the game being left on though

The missable frog coin was changed so that toads are always in that room for you to jump from.

For mallow's thought peek entries, there's a guy you can buy missing ones from (including the ones pre-Mallow like the first Bowser fight)

There is at least two things that are missable even in the remake though: the cameos from Link and Samus, which add entries into your Journal's Scrapbook if you meet them.

I don't think those are missable. I was able to meet them both in th post game

I was looking forward to SMRPG, I even finally got around to buying a MicroSD card since since my (little-used) Switch needed it for this game, but I put off buying/playing it while finishing up another game I was working through. Now my gaming schedule is free and uh, $80 Canadian for a game that's like 20 hours... not that money's an issue really, I guess it's more the principle, I expect a bit more for $80.

Will probably just work through more of my backlog and hope for a price drop sometime after I'm done with Rebirth, though I feel like Nintendo never price drops their games, damn.

I mean, as far as principle goes you have to consider the amount of time you spend playing the game compared to the value of the game itself. That is, the game is short but wonderful through and through. Each moment of it is a great experience even if the experience as a whole doesn't last long. I would say that's absolutely worth the money. In many ways I would say it's more worth it than a longer game that might still be good but has more filler and grinding and dull moments in it. SMRPG doesn't waste a minute, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.

That said, if you've already played SMRPG before I wouldn't say it's worth it. It's a great upgrade to a classic game, but it doesn't really add much.
Okay, I rolled a 14. What's that mean? Hsu
That you're a cheater. This is a 12-sided die. Chan
I was thinking the same thing tbh, like it's a quality over quantity kind of deal and shouldn't get too hung up on the playtime, and I've really only heard good things. I have played SMRPG before but literally like... 22, maybe 23 years ago. I'll still definitely buy and play it at some point, maybe sooner than later if I get bored of whatever else I'm playing, lol.
Also, lol, seconds after I posted that I saw dunkey's video where talks about the same thing:

Counterpoint: I don't think SMRPG has as much to offer new players without nostalgic ties, and that's evidenced by how the general reception among newcomers seems to be that it's 'pretty good'. $80 is a lot for a Pretty Good game.

a game under 20 hours isn't even going to register with me that i played it at this point, why bother

9.5 hours and in the middle of Nimbus Land

Also haven't played the original in probably 25 years. This is still a great game. Fun to play and amazing music.

Fuck cares how long it is. They've actually sped up the battles in this version with the perfect hits that hit everyone, the team up attacks, the switching out party members (maybe this was in the original?). Would this be a better game with slower battles and a bunch of filler? No, obviously not.

From the Dunkey video: "Which is why when I beat one I don't like, it seems like the worst game ever made."

Hello to me from one year ago, when I slogged my ass through Xenoblade Chronicles for like 80 fucking hours that I'll not get back. This year, I'll spend 15 playing Mario RPG and love almost every minute of it.

12.5 hours to Smithy defeat. Level 22.

Didn't beat Culex. Didn't get either lazy shell. Didn't unlock the casino.

No idea what to expect of the post-game content.

Got the lazy shells. Beat Culex.

Started on the post-game content but will not be finishing it.

It's a bunch of much harder versions of bosses you already fought. I beat Belome but gave up on Punchinello after a few attempts. The only way to damage him is to perfect attack the bombs so that they turn around and hit him instead. The problem is that almost every attack from him or the bombs is a one shot unless you perfect dodge. It's a lot of reviving while trying to get something like 20 perfect attacks, which is too much for me. So that's that!
