I can't say for sure if I've ever actually tasted an energy drink in my life, i remember kids getting red bulls in primary school but i've always just stuck to pops. i've maybe had a sip but I don't think I've ever purchased a can myself to drink.

^Yeah Split and Glass are both technically sequels to Unbreakable ; it's just that the former also works as a standalone film without the final scene. Personally I think it should have stayed as a standalone.

lmao yeah I heard that Shyamalan had to pitch this as weakly related but oops I didn't know the relation was the twist of the movie. the whole thing works perfectly fine without the connection at all it's just kinda tacked on there, but with Glass being named after y'know, Mr. Glass and prominently featuring Sam Jackson I take it the next one is as direct as it gets

maybe I spoiled myself by knowing, but I can't imagine seeing that reveal and getting like a mind-blown reaction because it doesn't feel relevant for this movie, it's more like an MCU post-credits scene about hyping up the next one

though didn't expect the movie to end with the beast getting away, but then i guess that's the only way to actually set-up a face-off for the sequel. kinda makes this feel like a long set-up then, but hey it had more going on than Unbreakable in the first place which was more of a really good 30 minutes story stretched over 2 hours

also anya taylor-joy looks so much younger after seeing The Menu, I don't think I was really aware of the actress before Mario.

I mean I know it's never really been like an actual supes series but did they really just make a 3rd movie about powered individuals being led to doubt if they actually have the powers that their own movies already demonstrated they do indeed have

Sam Jackson's great tho. Willis weirdly non-existent, bit sad as it's one of the last big films before his recent retirement, but looking up I hear he was showing symptoms at this point on set.

i don't know what movie to watch tonight

last night was American Psycho, I think I heard about it being an unreliable narrator story before, but I somehow didn't realize the severity of it . anyways good movie

hmmm i wanted to watch the hills have eyes again, i watched it when I was young but I really don't remember anything

also the texas chainsaw series is something I gotta get too, I don't think I've seen any

the twists were honestly the disappointing thing because yeah that's what the name shyamalan is synonymous with but then so many are complete nothing

pretty much manny's list of the seen stuff, although I didn't really care about Signs even, I think I said it in the last topic but suspect watching Nope before it spoiled me on the the concept

I'd also bump Old down into an awful tier because it really didn't bother making you care about the characters... rapper named Mid-Sized Sedan tho holy shit

The Village was alright, I watched that one with my mom since she loved the atmosphere of the period. The twists were decent, at least to me in hindsight after seeing more of Shyamalan's work.

man I looked up and understood Hellraiser 8 (Hellworld) was an original script then tacked on to Hellraiser but wow it was REALLY just tacked on

it's just some beyond stupid party (that turns out to be an induced hallucination) where people are given a mask and a phone supposedly to hook up with others you call, but like everyone is repeatedly taking off their masks for the camera it's like why tf is this a thing, and the phones, dudes, it's a party with blaring music and people are supposed to be attentive to their phones during a party?

and then the kills are more like Jigsaw traps and completely unrelated to any Cenobites, some randomly appear during a killing but the big "reveal" is that the whole thing is just a revenge plot by the creepy middle-aged host and there is no party, the victims were drugged and buried alive (with a breathing tube) to hallucinate their own punishments

after the movie is all wrapped is when the puzzle box is actually discovered, the Cenobites just show up and kill the host and that's the grand total of their actual existence in this entire thing

this is the worst one yet

*edit* oh yeah and the surviving two were saved by a ghost calling the police to share the location they've been buried for days

Unexpected nickname, and an extreme surprise of feels towards it and I don't know why. Good feels. Degrassi feels?

Nope >>>>>> Signs. The sheer anxiety of the slowly isolating and condensing and retreat of the characters is still such a tangible and palpable sense memory that a lot of the plot details and twists don't matter much to me. Phoenix, Breslin, and Culkin sitting on the couch with tinfoil hats watching the Brazilian broadcast is such masterful intensity. Like, the video easily come off as silly, but the fear the characters exude is spine-chilling. I go back-and-forth between good and okay on it, but the fact that it still affects me like it does leads me to good (meanwhile, Unbreakable I recognize as a good movie but it has nowhere near the amount of reactive capture).

Old & The Village are in the same tier for opposing reasons. The Village is a decent movie, but it bores me and I don't care. Old is a terrible movie, but there are parts that intrigue and terrify me and haunt me, and I think it helps that I watched it piecemeal in completely random order while working, so there were a lot of mysteries to my experience that didn't really exist watching beginning-to-end, and a lot of moments ( Ken Jeong's death ) that seemed more important and terrifying than they were otherwise. It's not farcically bad like The Happening, it's got way too many nothing characters, stupid dialogue, and very silly plot points to be good, and it just exists.

I've fixated a lot on the imperfections of my previous attempts (lmao i keep using my concept art of the last one instead of the model because it looks much better at that stage)

but this time i just wanted to keep things simple both in design and rig, not expecting it to really end out the best but I've really never done the head angle tilts better. then body rotations I just kept to a minimum since by now I've seen so many models not even bothering with any of it and still looking good in motion so maybe just minor movement would be nice and yeah I'm very satisfied

Chainsaw 3D not too bad, although some week scenes like the main character just reading files for a while

but man right now's a sheriff going through the basement that's basically Leatherface's base, describing all the creepy things there are - dresses, high heels, bones, " LADIES MAKE-UP? ", like i'm sorry but getting this plot so often i can't help eye roll at the listing off of creepy possessions is just 90% on crossdressing but then with just bones thrown in with it

also christ the main character's been reading files for 10 minutes now

beated now, it's easily the dumbest one yet but at the same time I kinda love it. like it's IMPOSSIBLE to do the plot it wants to tell without it ramping up morally questionable stupidity, and sure it's not the most original plot concept either, but it's fun. like really we got the fucking Sheriff here watching Leatherface murder a guy and the main character tells him not to shoot so he just stands there watching Leatherface kill him. Sure they're also evil but in fairness their "evil" is being overzealous in fighting the rampant evil of the Sawyer family! So not only doesn't the Sheriff stop an easily preventable murder, but after it's done the Sheriff's just like... alright and walks away. HELLO?? So now you don't care about the nth massacre he was just laying to waste? Not gonna finish him off after he killed the baddie? Or fine, attempt an arrest? Nothing? We just go home now and pack up and main character lives her life with cousin Leatherface roomie? It's sooooo dumb but I'm all for it.

I would say more mid-20s to 30s.

The website was mainly popular during the early-mid 2000s. So if you were into it, you were likely a kid or a young teen. Though I'm sure some older people were into it if they saw it as a pet raising sim.

And I don't have a source for this, but I recall a streamer claiming that Neopets was the thing that got a lot of people into HTML coding at a young age in their lives. I know that was the case for me.
Though looking back at it now, I do wonder if they sanitized any of the stuff that people could put in there.

how is the remake just bulldozing the entire plot of the original at breakneck speed and ends up 20 minutes longer

wait as I'm typing this I reached a part they're actually spending a lot more time on than the original... but it's the sexual assault scene - sigh as I'm typing my disappointment it's even extending said scene with a second sexual assault like what

how is this the first part of the remake that isn't slashed to pieces, literally everything until this part has just been completely glazed over and cutting out every bit of detail from the plot from the original

now I'm checking back on the original and somehow this point in the remake is about the same spot the original is in.... how??? they cut like every single thing about the gas station owner who doesn't talk to ruby, doesn't warn the family (who by the way doesn't even mention going to the silver mines), doesn't reveal anything to the dad coming back, doesn't even get attacked

man, gas station dude was probably my favourite character

so yeah beated - I can see why people would like it because of the second half, but it feels more like an action movie that uses a pre-existing movie to establish a plot so the movie doesn't have to bother doing that itself - kinda bizarre how much the back half focuses entirely on Doug and like there's zero communication at all from the point he enters the village to the rest of the movie

the change to make the mutants live in an abandoned village as opposed to just in the mines is pretty neat though, and there is a great variety of new mutants to populate it which is at least visually compelling....... but the characterizations are entirely lacking. the original movie they're actual characters. I also lost track of who's supposed to be who among them, the original makes it pretty distinct who's who among Jupiter, Ruby, Pluto, Mars, Mama... and well the other boy mercury as minimal as he is doesn't get confused with the more established mutants. this one nah I can only really extrapolate from actions that are repeated from the original into here to say "oh that's them"

like when Bobby & Brenda set up the trap against Jupiter my first thought was, "oh Jupiter was in this movie?" and it's so weird because in the original he's clearly made out to be the big boss, with a backstory told by the gas station owner. but here it's just oh yeah we haven't done anything with these characters so lets pull back from the source material again, after giving Doug something brand new that actually worked and made up most of the ending alone.

so yeah, what the movie does new it does alright, but what the movie repeats is just flat-out worse and it's hard to give props to a movie when 75% of it is just the same thing done badly. should've focused much heavier on the original content.
