Board 8 » Gaming stuff I bought in Japan
Just got back from Japan, where my retro game collectors at

Most of this stuff either never came out over here, or had some weird/unique original release that I think is cool

Also I went to a Pokemon Center and they had gacha machines for coin purses, so I figured might as well use this for my yen. I wanted the ugliest one which was Stunfisk (I like all the ugly Pokemon), but I ended up with a Pikachu. Then the girl next to me wanted Pikachu, but got Stunfisk... so I traded my Pikachu for her Stunfisk. Literally did a Pokemon trade at the Pokemon Center in Japan. So yeah, this guy followed me everywhere I went:

I can post about the non-gaming stuff I did too if you want, jet lagged now tho and must sleep. I will say that was some of the best food I've ever had in my life. Okonomiyaki is like my new favorite food. That entire country is like a whole nother planet. Definitely recommend going at least once in your life

Awesome haul! First time in Japan? I remember Mr Potato was the go-to for retro stuff but I feel like the last time I was there (3 years ago) it looked like it was on its way out.

I'm going on Friday so looking forward to my haul too. Won't be that much though.

Yup, first time. I found super potatos prices to be a little high, so i got most my games from smaller game shops and even places like k-books. Super potato was still an overall cool experience tho

Super* Potato yes, lol. Maybe it was just the Snake Eater cutout that had seen better days.

Goddd I've been trying to find a place that serves okonomiyaki in the US and even in California it's been impossible. In ~2 weeks I'm going to Japan for the second time though so at least I can get it again then.
Congrats to BKSheikah , who knows more about years than anyone else.
Good to see some Saturn love. Mah Gakuen Lunar is good stuff
MZero , to the extreme

I've been getting into JP games lately. Mostly Saturn, but also PS1/2, Dreamcast, and I guess Switch.

Gale Racer! I've seen footage of that Arcade port. Looks both terrible and awesome at the same time lol. I'd try it, I bought Race Drivin' for the Saturn after all.

And knowing Tower Records still exists in Japan is cool, but then you realize that it's no longer here which is sad lol.

Hiroshima style okonomiyaki?
Congrats to Eli Ayase's #1 fan BK_Sheikah00 on winning the BYIG Guru Contest.
A Japan trip has been in the back of my head for years. Would love to go around the hard off shops there and search for cool and weird games.

This guy gets it. We stayed at a traditional ryokan in Kyoto, and they served dinner and breakfast, and I swear to god that was some of the best food Ive ever eaten. The sushi was unbelievable. Even the white rice. Like I didnt know regular old white rice could be so tasty.

Like even convenient store food over there hit different. Its sad coming back to all this processed junk in the states :(

lol Race Drivin. I didnt even know that was on Saturn. I had Hard Drivin on Genesis as a kid, and theres just a certain so bad its good to racing games on Sega platforms, and I suspect Gale Racer is probably the same

Also I first heard of Tower Records in TWEWY, along with stuff like 109 and MODI, let alone the scramble, so it was cool to finally see it all in person. I figured Id buy my favorite game soundtrack while I was in Tower Records

This entire haul was around $350. Games are generally cheaper over there, but some of them are starting to climb like they are over here. All this stuff ranges from common to uncommon.

I think the cheapest ones were the ACE games which were like $1 each, and the most expensive was Short Warp at $50. Even the guitars were only like $5 each. Two guitars and Guitar Freaks for like twelve bucks - I just couldnt resist. My wife and I had to buy an entire extra suitcase just to bring back all the stuff we bought
