One Piece doesn't feel like a series you should be reading for the sake of one or two characters. It's a huge ensemble cast with an expansive world.
Well, I never did the Manga, just watched the show. But it was nice when other characters not named Luffy, Zoro and Sanji actually got to do relevant things and actually felt important. Yeah, I care about Chopper the most, but Enis Lobby had so many awesome moments for every character and I feel like it was never really captured again. I stopped after Whole Cake Arc and Chopper was FEATURED in that one, he just didn't do anything. So like... I don't think it's going to get any better in that regard.
