I can't tell if I'm having fun playing BotW. Please advise.

The nice thing about BotW though is that even if the game's not working out for you, if you do want just a greatest-hits tour of the game and rush only the major progress points, there's nothing stopping you and the game is not very long if you do that - I don't know if that's really a bright spot if you're hoping for a more standard Zelda adventure, but at least it won't overstay its welcome
Yeah, to echo what others have brought up, (even though I didn't beat the game til over 100 hours in) the most incredible experience I had was going to Hyrule Castle the first time 20 hours in, severely unprepared, and exploring everything I could. If the whole game was as good as those 3 or 4 hours, it would be my favorite game ever.

That said, the divine beasts are actually some of the low points of the game for me, so rushing to them is definitely not the same. Some of the missions to get to them are really good though.
