Good credit cards for travel?

I am planning some travel soon. I get confused whenever I look up travel credit cards because they talk about points without explaining the monetary value of said points. Like, how do I compare one cards 25,000 points to anothers 30,000 points?

I prefer one that has no annual fee, and Id really only plan on using it whenever I book flights. Any suggestions?

You search what those points convert into and go from there.

Typically 1 point = 1 cent but it can vary. Points for different cards can be worth different amounts for different things.

I'm pretty sure most travel-based rewards cards carry an annual fee as their market is typically more frequent travelers and thus big spenders looking for big ticket rewards.

As someone who has over 30 credit cards.

Chase Sapphire Reserved or Preferred is what I'd go with. The CSP has a great bonus right now. 100,000 points which is $1,000 cashback or if you use those points book hotel/airfare then you get 1.25 redemption so $1,250 worth. Plus you can also transfer those points to a bunch of other airlines/hotels at potentially better value. It does have an annual fee. But most of these cards lose their value after the first year so you should cancel them before then and just pay it once (which the benefit outweighs the fee)

If you don't want to bother with points, Costco Citi credit card gives a flat 3% cash back on all travel purchases. Annual fee is waived only if you're a Costco member, though.

ya the the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is pretty good

Good stuff. Ill look into the CSP (canceling after one year) since Im not a Costco member.
