Also the audacity of this game to have a lecture about the etymology of the slang "thirsty."

Mara is a demon that works to sabotage enlightenment. Lust is one of its tools. Apparently its name was slang for "penis" for a bit

yeah Mara has legitimately been one of SMT's staple memes going all the way back to SMT 1. It didn't appear as an enemy in P3 or P4 due to those games not using recruitable/fusible demons as enemies like P5 and mainline SMT do though.

Theres a female version of Mara in a sense called Arioch. Its also fairly old like Mara I think, but I dunno what game it first originated in

Arioch technically first appeared in Megami Tensei II but it looks like it was just a generic palette swap of another enemy there. It gained its more...distinctive appearance in the first Shin Megami Tensei.

It was a persona though!

btw they've done popularity polls and mara is the most popular demon in the megaten franchize (although, it is not ranked in the most recent one because Mara bafflingly does not fully appear in SMT: Nocturne)

I have finished this game.

Last set of cutscenes felt really weird and disjointed from everything else, but overall a good experience for my first persona game.
If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?

Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of the P5 endgame. P3 especially did it better, but I'd say P4 did, too.

P5's ending is great. P5R's ending...not so much. That's the one downside I have regarding P5R is that it takes the awesome, upbeat ending from P5 and just replaces it with such a nothing ending.

To elaborate: P5's ending has you with your friends, celebrating the success of your achievements in the game with a road trip together. P5R focuses far more on the two new characters, at the expense of the main cast (and even then, the two newbies don't get THAT much.)

P5s ending is about where I wish the game was beginning since the cast was finally gonna have fun and do stuff together. Theyre all so work obsessed and anti-fun times they make Akihiko look like fucking Teddie

Well at least now you can just play P5S which is an entire game about the main cast going on a fun road trip!

Oh maybe I'll have to youtube the original ending then because that sounds more like what I had expected.

Like the platform scene in Royal is literally pointless and goes against all prior character development.
