Hard disagree on the music, but I agree there's a lot of "flaw" to the game probably oweing to its ambition and scope.
I still think squall is way more interesting than your typical upbeat protag! When he's lying in bed thinking himself and his reputation, it really makes him so much more self-aware than most rpg stories ever portray their characters. I guess that's what good introspection does.
