It wasn't at 8am when I was going to take my dog out.
I kinda really hate these San Francisco fires and how it just makes it brutal to go outside but then I remind myself I won't be having to deal with a North East winter again and I'm okay.

Fires like these used to be atypical.

I live in an area where fires are not a threat, but more and more the outdoor air becomes unsafe to breath due to fires in the region.

The air when I was much younger used to be caked in smog. The LA area has actually fixed this considerably but it doesn't even matter much at this point.

Yeah, got some california smoke blowing up into my area of Oregon for the next few days. Apparently some weird weather is being forecasted because of it. Luckily 'outside' is an internet myth, so I think I'll be alright.

Same, it got really dark around 6. I stepped outside to grab something from my storage and it was hard to breathe even with my mask on.

Fun times. Apparently there are a number of level 3 evacuation orders being given to some small towns like, 20 miles away from me. The sky overhead is very much a yellow tinged smog of a kind that I've not witnessed in my time here in Oregon. Everything's mostly likely gonna blow over and be fine, but there's still more uncertainty going on than I'd like.

Yeah I've had about a week of ashy days now. And the Creek Fire is pulling within 30-35 miles now so it's going to get worse before it gets better.

That California life :/
The sky is sepia.

Neat.

I thought these were just clouds, but since it still hasn't burned off I guess it might be smoke?

Must be a California thing. Most places, gender reveal parties involve popping a balloon or cutting into a cake.

There isn't any smokey smell now, but the sky is still an off color.

Update: woke up today and it was a bright orange color in the sky that normalized to sepia again. It's so dark it's nearly pitch black without any lights on inside my house.

It is raining ash again today.

Yesterday the air was mostly fine today the sky is awful again and the air smells.

My car was covered in ash this morning.

Air is a little better, not great though.
The air was good enough yesterday to take my dog out running.

Today nope.
We were supposed to maybe get some wind that would push some of the bad air out.
That doesn't seem to be happening.

Pretty bad in my part of Oregon, and I have relatives in the state who might have to evacuate.
Lolo
This is caused by wildfires from what I have heard, smokes are covering nearly the entire country, map of coverage:

I was born and raised in California. Lived most of my life in Utah, and now currently reside in Washington DC. There's been something to hate about every place I've called home.

Utah has the worst inversions and the air quality can be down right horrendous.

DC area is way too political charged, and the allergens here are off the charts.

I miss California beaches, especially Monterey. Spent a lot of my youth in Santa Cruz. I'd probably take the wildfires to have that lukewarm Pacific air lol.

It feels almost like living on another planet with the sky outside being yellowy sepia. Fire to the north, east, and south of me. My area remains fine, where some folk are evacuating to even, but there's always a chance things get worse.

I'm far south enough that I'm not getting the worst of it but the air is a disgusting color outside right now and the sun is completely red, like a perfect tomato red circle with no glare at all just sitting in the sky. Looks utterly bizarre.

With this gathering power, go beyond even time!
The smoke has dissipated enough that the air is breathable again but to North and east the sky is looking very ominous.

My legs were feeling antsy so I came out for some light exercise.
Those red/orange skies are absolutely insane, def want to see it irl

Okay, I just stepped outside today and the air quality has taken a massive dive and everything is a little browner in color. I live in Los Angeles so I don't know if that's the San Gabriel fire causing it or if state fires up north have started to affect us too.
