I finished the blue route a few days ago and I'm having a hard time seeing why this game was so beloved. I know the story is fleshed out more in the yellow route and I already read the spoilers since I'm not playing this game a second time but I'm not really sure why they couldn't put that stuff into the blue route too.
Dimitri barely gets any resolution for Duscur (you know, his entire character arc) except a rumor that maybe his step-mom had something to do with it. His revenge plot against Edelgard doesn't even make a whole lot of sense considering she tells him a few times she didn't have anything to do with Duscur. If you follow her path you even see that she's fighting the people who were responsible!
Also the entire Rhea plot is just completely brushed to the side in the blue path. You literally don't even see her again in part 2. How do you leave a plot thread like that open when half of the characters will not stop talking about how their motivation for invading the capital is almost exclusively to save Rhea?
I understand that the developers probably expected everyone to play through the game multiple times but the combat is so simple and mindless that I can't believe people would actually do that. The sim stuff is also very barebones and the 2nd part of the game is basically a dinner simulator so you can watch 30 second skits of characters interacting.
I did like the characters in the blue house and the plot was fine (before they just ignored half of the setup for no reason) but almost everything else about the game felt a little too simple.
I had high hopes for this game because of the praise and because it was my first FE game and most of the experience was pretty disappointing. Is this really the best that FE has to offer? Not trying to start any fights because I really did want to like this game.
