This is incredibly stupid, but then I only use new Pokemon in a new generation anyway, so I guess it won't impact me as much. Also I saw Snorunt so my favorite is in at least...

Sucks for those who expected everything, but as somebody who wont even bother catching any Pokemon that arent brand new to Sword/Shield I cant say I care. Id love every single new Gen to be like B/W where only new Pokemon are available (well other than the post game, but you know what I mean)

development time is hellishly limited when you need to implement 800+ pokemon (and that's not even including all the forms) into literally every new thing that you need to do
Pokemon as a series is getting really bloated and I'm perfectly fine with taking steps to make sure they can actually still make the games - the older games will still be there with all of the pokemon they have in them

There's a lot of people being like "they're probably saving this for the third version for money"
but I can't think any time game freak cut a fan loved feature and then brought it back in a third game. They just like to cut stuff.
Oh well, it just means I save money on not having to buy pokemon this gen.

I don't think they care because they assume people like to play their games and their purchase isn't dependent on being able to bring your old Pokemon, but rather...you liking playing a new Pokemon game. Apparently they underestimate the weirdness of their fans.

Doesn't every Pokemon in this game have the dynamax thing? Maybe they didn't want to animate 800 Pokemon doing that?
Also they had to stop including every pokemon eventually right? As the graphics get better and the number of pokemon keeps going up these games are going to become unreasonable otherwise.

Look at the credits of Pokemon game and you'll see their development staff size is relatively low, compared to other big name titles. It's bizarre.
Honestly I'd be worried about what the work environment is like there. If any studio needed an expansion it's them.

We're finally getting a mainline Pokemon title on a console, after two decades of fan demand. And it's this. Honestly, this gen looks so fucking subpar and uninteresting in literally every aspect. I get that bloat had to catch up with the series at some point, but do we really have to pull this shit for the first console - and $60 - title?
To be fair, though, I was pleasantly surprised with Let's Go despite how bad it looked pre-release. Hopefully Sword/Shield will be the same way?
