I mean, it took years for FF7 to get on a Nintendo console after Cloud got into Smash, so this doesn't mean anything.

Best "oh shit" reveal moment for me was probably the first Smash 4 trailer when everyone thought it was Animal Crossing, until Villager's letter floated down with the Smash seal on it and you realized that 1. A new Smash was coming and 2. Villager was in it

Best reveal trailer overall was Mega Man, but not for any surprise moment. Just a really good, well-made trailer

Cloud...

Anyone who says differently is a fucking moron.

The way Bombing Mission played in the background as eveyeone who knew what the fuck it was just whispered Holy shit; thats the FF VII intro, is VII coming to Switch? Then as it amps up the Smash logo comes and for those few of us super fans there were about 4 seconds where we knew already what it meant, and the the X FF VII part came and of course, well, everyone knew then.

None of the other ones are even close.

Not Snake in his stupid box,
Not Pirahna Plant trolling
Not Sonic with Live and Learn playing,
Not even MegaMan.

Im thinking youre forgetting how it was done...

The codec ring comes up, and less than a fifth of a second later the green comes up with Snake talking.
You literally dont even have time to be like HOLY SHIT SNAKE, before Snake is even there.

With Cloud you actually had a couple seconds before Bomber Mission hits its famous crescendo and the VII logo was shown to know 100% holy shit Cloud is in this game.

I really can't pick between Snake, Joker, and Mega Man for my favorite 3rd party reveal.

Snake was amazing because he was the first and really set the standard.

Joker was amazing because it was completely unexpected and the video was done in a pretty awesome way.

Mega Man was amazing because he was the only 3rd party character to date I actually cared about and his video was also pretty awesome.

Piranha Plant doesn't even belong in the same stratosphere.
