Just like walk around Manhattan and don't bother with the train too much if it is your first visit. You'll see a lot of cool shit just by walking you would likely miss if you were just going A to B by train.

I've been there once, maybe twice. Three times if you count the Statue of Liberty but not actually going into New York itself. It was okay

I was in Manhatten on a solo trip for 3 days. Walked down Broadway from like 103 st to times square one day. Took me over 2 hours. Awesome place.

Go see the new world trade center and ground zero.

Scary af subway system around midnight tho yeesh

Video Games New York is the fucking coolest

it's really small and gets crowded easy but they have some great stuff for sale / on display

BUT a lot of their shit is overpriced for tourists, so only get something if you know you won't see it again

It's always possible. Not for like, Hamilton, but the longer running shows almost always have tickets available. I always recommend Avenue Q as a fun off-Broadway show that isn't too expensive.

I hate Times Square and avoid it by any means possible, but if you ever somehow get to visit it at like 4:30am when there's basically no one there, it's amazing and kind of a surreal experience.

Actual New Yorker here (born and raised, still live here). I've spent the course of the last 15 years doing Brooklyn/Manhattan nightlife, so if you'd like any suggestions for stuff to do, I can help you out.

Quick suggestions: Go to St. Marks near the lower east side of Manhattan, check out Kenka (AWESOME Japanese izakaya, open late) and Barcade across the street on the same block. If you're staying near Williamsburg though, I'd highly recommend going to Barcade Brooklyn over Barcade St. Marks. Video Games New York is a short walk from St. Marks, by the way. That place is completely overrated by tourists, it's overpriced as fuck but it has a lot of shit in there. I wouldn't spend a dime in there.

I prefer J&L Game in midtown Manhattan myself but I haven't been to J&L after they relocated there. They used to be in Chinatown and was my absolute go-to place to buy games/imports/accessories in the early/mid 2000's.

If you want a completely different NYC nightlife vibe, check out Astoria in Queens. Tons of bars and stuff open late at night and has a beer garden that's kind of a big deal.
