you're punished for fighting enemies through breaking weapons.
Except enemies drop weapons?

Usually weaker weapons than the ones you find elsewhere. "Hmm... should I break my sword that does 20 damage on this enemy who's weapon does 3?"
I guess that never bothered me because I loved the combat, but if you dont, I can totally see how thats a huge flaw.
I always had more issues with having to leave good weapons because of not having enough inventory space than with running out of good weapons.
I don't like combat where you have to pause the game five times to take out six enemies. It makes fights feel sluggish and unrewarding because it's interrupted several times. It's a large reason why I too only played the game for like 20 hours and never really felt immersed.

So basically the action should stay live while youre scrolling through the quick select for the weapons?

He's saying that weapons shouldn't have the durability of a box of toothpicks.

Tazzy is correct. You shouldn't have to select a new weapon at all. You should be able to finish an entire fight with a single weapon. I found myself not being able to do that 90% of the time with what I played, even if I wasn't using something pathetic like a Boko Club.

This doesn't sound the least bit accurate at all >_>

It's what happened to me. Keep in mind I only played like 20-25 hours or so. I only had like two weapons last more than an entire fight. This goes back to Ethan's point about not having any sense of progression - you just pick up what's in any given area. You shouldn't be getting weak weapons after you get to a certain point in the game, but alas, you do.
BotW is great. Not the best game ever but it's my #2 Zelda behind MM.
I had the same weapon durability complaints as many in this topic during my first couple dozen hours with the game, but I let go of the mindset of weapons having any real major value and hoooooly hell it made the game so much better.
You should maybe keep one or two weapons slot dedicated to big time weapons to use on huge threats, but everything else is 100% meant to be burned through as you fight. Grabbing stuff and breaking it over your enemy's head only to grab the next thing in the heat of the moment is super fun. Combat in general destroys every other Zelda to the point it's not even fair.

I didn't know it was possible to love combat where you have to replace your weapon multiple times in the middle of the fight when enemies, using the EXACT SAME WEAPONS YOU DO, never have theirs break.
One caveat: I played this after the DLC, so Heros Path allowed me to chart every general area Id missed. If I had played at launch I cant say for sure it would have been as easy.
You can keep track of where you'vebeen without heroes path. Just use stickers.
And finding shrines is pretty braindead, tbh. Turn on the sensor, go to towers and look around, it's easy.
I actually JUST got the DLC, and I wanted to look at my heroes path.

weapon degradation without the ability to build your own weapons is stupid and anyone defending it is equally dumb
feel free to enjoy botw, but don't argue it's a good feature or it's to its benefit. it's not.
BotW is better than those game

It does have the feature to build your own weapons though.
