"It's popular, Now it sucks" trope, I guess.

Doesn't this happen to literally every Zelda game, nowadays? People loved Skyward sword when it first came out, then after a few months opinions begin to turn sour.

Mmm I was kidding, I just needed an excuse to make another topic about this game

Because I can't believe how fucking amazing it is

Skyward Sword still gets way too much hate, yeah. Awesome game. Much better than Majora's Mask.

skyward sword is garbage

botw is amazing
lol no

Skyward Sword is atrocious, Majora's Mask is still the best

Skyward is good.
SS has some of the best segments in any Zelda game and also some of the worst.

It's good overall and I liked it a lot despite my frustrations.
DPOblivion was far more determined than me.

I liked SS a lot but I don't think I'm ever gonna replay it
Donny: Are they gonna hurt us, Walter?
Walter: No, Donny. These men are cowards.
Could never get into SS at all.

BotW I spent entire weekends at a time playing. Still easy GotY for me.

SS is solid, but probably the weakest 3D Zelda. Either that or BotW.

When its motion controls aren't garbage, they fix Fi to not repeat everything you just fucking heard, and they remove needless revisits to the same areas (you know, the ones that only slow you the fuck down because you've already been there and have to do literally nothing coughescortmissioninEldinVolcanoandWaterDragonfloodingFaronWoodscough ).

SS was good its just not very replayable. A bit of a victim of nintendo needing to handhold all the time during that period.
What was so bad about the motion controls, anyway?

Aside from swimming, which you barely even do.

It tried to utilize the Motion Plus that was more sensitive and could read your motions better... also known as more sensitive so half the time you're playing it you seem to swing opposite how you intend to... for one. In a game that forced motion controls into facing nearly any enemy and you get garbaged out by how they work... Yeah.

Literally the best Zelda game.

I rarely had issue with the controls, and never died due to them from what I remember. Perhaps you just had a broken controller? Or are you exaggerating for the sake of building an argument that's not actually valid?

Literally every single time I see people who complain about motion controls when playing games that use them it's always because they flail about randomly like inflatable tube men on meth. Calming down and using focused movements has always made motion controls work fine for me.
Okay, I rolled a 14. What's that mean? Hsu

I definitely was swinging properly and it wasn't THAT common, but it still was an issue at some points. Never died to them, but there are obviously times I took damage because I swung the remote diagonally and the game decided to believe I swung horizontally or vertically. Or attempting to stab and the thing failed. Sort of things. Was it broken? I dunno. Maybe all my Motion Plus stuff came broken because I saw similar issues in some swinging motions in Wii Sports Resort, but was fine with balance and some other things. I'm definitely not exaggerating though, because it is a valid argument that exists with more than just me.

The annoying thing with wii motion plus was definitely the need to calibrate before every play and every 4 hours or so of continuous play.

I didn't have any problems with accuracy after calibration. Could be too sensitive at times though.

Well, it's things that make you collect items and actually do things with them. Zelda games were always fun with collection related stuff but you didn't get much to do with it... until now.

Sheep can also add the fact that there are two bosses you fight 3 times each.

But ultimately... These things to hate aren't going away and take up far more of the experience of the game than the good can ever. I mean, what's the good? Uh... Storyline is good and provides actual development compared to a normal Zelda game... and... 3 dungeons are fantastic. So... cutscenes and about... 1 hour of gameplay of the good vs... 17 hours of gameplay of the bad?

I've heard most of these complaints from my roommate while he was playing through the game. But sitting right next to him, it was blatantly obvious that he wasn't actually swinging the wiimote in the directions that he thought he was. Like, most of his swings were off by a good 20 degrees or so, and his stabs usually involved rotating the wiimote downward quite a bit. The game generally had a better idea of what he was doing than he did, tbh.
I never had much issues with the SS controls either

and I will not hear any bad words about Ghirams fights

Honestly, after watching the strategy that Chugga showed off for fighting it, there's really no reason to ever complain about the annoyance of that fight again.

Basically, fighting the toes is the difficult annoying way. Instead of doing that, fly up the cliff above it and jump on its head. MUCH easier than cutting its toes off.

It's not typical crafting though, because you're not really following recipes; you're figuring out rules, making discoveries, thinking about uses of ingredients and substitutions, thinking about how intense of a dish you want to make, getting lucky sometimes, and only occasionally trying to make a particular named dish by recipe.

I absolutely loved the motion controls in both Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. Neither of them (especially not TP) captured the essence of what I love about sword combat (yes, I am trained, be scared and also laugh at me) but the spirit is in there.
