From what I've seen, a lot of right-wingers happily believe this new policy will supposedly protect anime, manga, and games from being influenced by Western leftism and DEI.

Oh great militaristic Japanese xenophobia is back on the menu, just as fascism takes over the west.
I will now sell five copies of the Three EP's by the Beta Band.
Nothing triggers anime chuds more than seeing Black people in anime.

maybe protect anime by making sure all the animators are fairly paid with a stable work schedule? being an animator is supposed to be hell.

Right-wingers think it's more important to protect anime from progressive translators over ensuring that animators are paid well.
Okay, but what does this actually mean from a practical standpoint? What are the guidelines?
Good. I don't really care what media does or doesn't do, as long as it's what the author wants. A mangaka I like had to deal with censorship for his work quite often, including one of his manga (one I was really enjoying) being canceled in part due to the Tokyo Olympics bringing a lot of foreigers to Japan and the country wanting to put on a front for tourists by hiding "offensive" material. Criticism of Japanese media belongs to the Japanese.

Black people have been in anime for decades, and honestly, quite often the black characters are the coolest characters in the series. I'm more concerned about actual censorship meant to appease western audience expectations. Mostly a thing with sexual content (of all degrees - I've seen censorship of anything from panties to completely rewriting major story segments for localizations)

I don't think there's any at the moment. It's too early to see if this is suppose to be a good or bad thing.

Same people who support AI slop and we all know anime will be 100% AI generated in a few years.

Opposing DEI and stuff would actually limit its global reach so that's kinda dumb to hope for if you want anime/Japanese media to become more prominent.

Also this is totally because Japan is flabbergasted they let South Korea pass them by lol

South Korean right-wingers are even worse when it comes to their disdain for progressive politics and women in general.

As written, that sounds more like assurance that the Japanese government wouldn't interfere.

Is this a case where some news comes out that the government won't do censorship and then some right wing derps go and say they are 'banning DEI' and shit?

They seem to believe that leftists have the power to make stories more progressive and left-leaning through cancel culture. Why else are stories concerning DEI and Sweet Baby Inc so popular with them?

It really funny because the up and coming Sanseito party of japan(Japanese MAGA pretty much) actually wants to have government involvement with anime to help Spread it to the world while making it more Wholesome and acceptable to certain audiences in the west (Christians)

They support AI for political reasons. They're convinced it won't be "woke".

They should include music in this program too. I always used to be confused on why so many on this site love kpop but never talk about jpop. Eventually I found out it's because japanese music largely isn't marketed much outside Japan. They need to start making jpop stars into global stars

Seems fair next
I've been reading a lot over the past year that anime creators are worried that the popularity of anime in the west is creating a demand for horseshit shonen stuff and it's swallowing up creativity and novel ideas

Sort of like how we made every fucking cinema event a superhero movie for like 2 decades and now no one wants to go to the cinema or produce a novel movie idea

Don't know how true this is though
