she wasn't an Avenger. She was extremely small time.
I think the mix-up you had is that in the comics, she escapes from Purple Man because he's watching the news talk about the Avengers and he gets so mad that he tells her to go kill one of them. So she flies over to the mansion and attacks Scarlet Witch....but she's a street level superhero attacking the fucking Avengers. Luckily, she does know Carol Danvers who recognizes her in time to stop the Avengers from fully beating the brakes off of her. As an apology, they have Jean Gray implant psychic blocks in her mind that make her immune to Purple Man's power.

I swear she was, not in actual comics, but in flashbacks for her origin and she called herself Jewel.
